YOUR CROSS WORD PUZZLE
HOW TO SOLVE THE CROSS WORD PUZZLE
The way to solve the Cross Word Puzzle is to fill in the white squares of the diagram with the words which agree with the accompanying definitions. The definitions are numbered to correspond with the numbers on the diagram.
Any word defined in the text under "HORIZONTAL" will begin at its number, shown on the diagram, and will extend all the way across to the first black space to the right of that number. That is, the word must begin in the square that contains its identifying number, and extend as far as the white squares continue uninterruptedly.
Any word defined under "VERTICAL" will also begin in the white space that contains its number, but will extend downward as far as the white spaces remain uninterruptedly.
CRIMINALS RUN WILD IN LONDON
LONDON, Jan. 12—The city life of London was almost wholly disorganized today as the result of a 26 hour fog. Economic losses are estimated to have reached $5,000,000. One person is dead, scores were injured and criminal activities have greatly increased.
During the night bus and street car service was withdrawn, many busses and private automobiles were left beside the curb. The police force was depleted because some officers could not reach their stations. Others could not locate their beats. As a result, criminals worked unmolested in numerous districts.
Street collisions between motor and horse drawn vehicles were frequent, one person being killed and dozens hurt. Train service was badly disarranged.
The Paris aeroplane arrived in the midst of the fog and was need to circle for a long time trying to locate the landing place. Rockets were sent up by the aerodrome. These were seen by the pilot and he took a chance and come down thru the fog, making a perfect landing.
London was dark as night today, altho the fog had lifted slightly. Several sections of the city reported it had lifted 100 feet, making street traffic easier nearer the river.
Scientists estimated there were tons of soot suspended over the city.
The weather expert of the Star said that the fog belt extended agar far as Denmark and the Pyran
