SPEAKING OF REAL ESTATE WASHINGTON, Dec. 5.—Uncle Sam is still a large land owner despite the thousands of grants that he allots each year. According to figures of the Interior Department, the approximate area of unreserved, unappropriated public lands outside of Alaska still owned by the United States up to the close of the last fiscal year amounted to 186,604,733 acres. These public lands are located in 24 states and are exclusive of forest reservations, Indian reservations, and other reserved lands. The State of Nevada has the largest unappropriated public domain with 52,252,278 acres. Utah james next with 28,767,587 acres, while California was third with 19,636,172 acres. Kansas held the cellar position on the list with 2,038 acres. U. S. TRACTORS SENT TO RUSSIA NEW YORK, Dec. 5.—One thousand tractors and other agricultural implements aggregating over 5,000 tons and valued at about a million dollars have been ordered by the Soviet Government for distribution in those parts of Russia where the consequences of the recurring droughts are aggravated by primitive methods of filling the soil. This is one of the largest shipments of American tractors designed for Russia. The Purchase was effected thru the Amtorg Trading Corporation, the sole agent in this country of the Russian State Import and Export Bureau. BOBBED EVANGELIST HITS BILLY SUNDAY TYPE OF PREACHING Miss Marguerite V. Pohek, 21 and bobbied-haired, is attracting large crowds to the church in Boston where she is conducting a revival. She is a Methodist and has been an evangelist for a year. She is opposed to the "Billy Sunday type" of preaching, she says. More wildowers than widows marry. The purchase was effected thru the Amtorg Frading Corporation, the sole agent in this country of the Russian State Import and Export Bureau. Finding peaks in oysters isn't a bit more difficult than finding systers in cafe oyster soup—Delance, Oslo, News. We left Nannle still a prisoner at the farm house but with the rope that tied her off her horns having a feast of new cabbages. And this is how it happened that the hired girl heard no more noise in the cellar after that one terrible crashing, banging sound that had made her hold her breath in alarm and then run for the boys to come quickly to see if someone was in the cellar. Silkering to themselves, they went with her to see what misled Nannle had done, for they well know the hired girl's burglar at the cellar was none other than Nannle. They all went trooping town into the cellar, big and brave as life, then came up and sailed her no one was there, and that all she heard was a milk pan that had rolled off the table, probably caused by her slamming the door. She was perfectly satisfied with this explanation and went about her work singing until she heard footsteps coming up the cellar stairs, and someone breathing heavily. Then she threw her apron over her head and rushed out of the house and across the field to a neighbor a quarter of a mile away. Nannle butted the door three times with her horns, each butt making enough noise to be heard all over the house. Then as no one answered, she threw her weight against it, which shook it loose on its hinges, and it gave way and fell into the kitchen. She calmly walked over it, looked around the kitchen to see if she could not see an open door or window, but on finding none open she jumped up on a table close to a window to see if she could not butt it open and then jump to the ground. But alas as she landed on the table, on which was a big dishpan of bread dough just starting to rise, the leaf of the table gave way, sliding the pan of dough over on Nannle's head. The sticky, spongy stuff ran down between her eyes, while a great ball of it lodged between her horns and ran down over her eyes. She shook her head, but to no avail. The stuff stuck to her hair like molasses. Half blinded, she saw an open door and, stumbling toward it, she found it led upstairs, so up she went. By this time the dough had completely covered one eye and was fast closing the other. She stumbled against a bed and began rubbing her head up and down in the bed clothes to wipe it off. She succeeded in getting it out of her eyes, but quantities still stuck in her hair between her horns. When the dough fell off her eyes she saw an open window the other side of the bed, and not stopping to run around the bed, she jumped up on it and tramped across it to the window. (And we will have to wait until tomorrow to see if Nannle got away and resumed her journey.) Auction Sale "Extraordinary" At 737 N.
