URGE FULLERTON
SITE FOR UNIV.
The Anaheim Farm Center last night endorsed the plan to try to get the Southern Branch of the U. of C. to locate in Orange co., approving particularly the site offered by Fullerton on the Bastan-chury ranch.
The Center also endorsed the plan of Supervibors to purchase 160 acres from James Hwine living 3½ miles south of Fourth and Main-sta., Santa Ana, for a county fair grounds and other purposes.
The land has been offered for 366,000, the county to purchase 40 acres annually until the entire amount has been secured.
State Senator H. B. Lewis of Los Angeles, who owns property here and was a member of the Farm Center, was present and made a few brief remarks. He told of the legislative program in prospect at Sacramento at the coming session. Lewis represents the 38th district.
The sentiment of the county regarding the proper site for a fairgrounds has not yet been thoroughly shown, but as M. J. Bradley of the Farm Center said, the Center feels that land at the north end of the county is too valuable to purchase for such an object. The city of Orange wanted the site located near or adjoining Orange co. Park, which might be enlarged for the purpose, it is believed.

YORBA LINDA
YORBA LINDA, Dec. 10—(Spl.)—The Yorba Linda chapter, O. E. S., held their annual installation of officers in the Masonite hall on Monday evening. The rooms were very pretty with flowers and greenery and the ball was crowded with members and interested friends. The retiring worthy matron, Mrs. Alpha Van Cleve, presided and was assisted by Mrs. T. D. Roberts of Fullerton, district grand matron who acted as installing officer. Officers for 1925 as installed were: Worthy matron, Mrs. Doris Dyckman; worthy patron, Mr. William Johnson of Fullerton; associate matron, Mrs. M. Martin; conductress, Martha Barwan; associate conductress, Mrs. Ward Holland; secretary, Mrs. Claire Shook; treasurer, Mrs. Lucy Scott; marshal, Alpha Van Cleve; chaplain, Mrs. Geo. Kellogg; Star polita: Minnie Smith, Adah; Carrie Johnson, Ruth; Hazel Elliott, Esther; Julia Foss, Martha; Edna Isom, Electa; Lois Jacobs, sentinel; J. A. Swall, warder; Carmen Adams, organist; Capitola Thurston, flag bearer.
Mrs. Edith Walker of Richfield, Mrs. J. J. Alexander and Miss Olive Gale of this place sang vocal selections during the installation. Mrs. Van Cleve was presented with a diamond set past matron's pin from the chapter and Mr. Taylor, retiring patron, with a beautiful Masonic ring. Each of those officers as well as others were given a shower of flowers and other gifts from relatives and friends. Various officers gave short talks and Rev. Ledbetter of Anaheim, who was a neighbor of the retiring matron when both lived in the Hoosier state, spoke a few words on the Christian side of the obligation. Following the formal closing of the installation the guests were invited to the dining room where dainty refreshments were served.
DUNLAP IN QUARRY
FOLSOM STATE PRISON, Dec. 10—Facing a sentence of from 15 to 216 years, Harry Dunlap, notorious "badge bandit," of Los Angeles, today began life in Folsom prison as convict 13,361.
Dunlap, who was received at the prison late yesterday, has been assigned to work in the prison rock quarry.
Charles Hoff of Norway, called by Olympic officials the greatest all-around athlete in the world, is coming to the U. S., this winter to compete in indoor meets. He is shown above clearing the bar at his world's record height of 4.20 meters.
WIDE RANGE FOR BIDS ON SEWER
Sixteen bids were opened last night by Fullerton trustees for the new sewer on the Golden Hill tract, bids ranging all the way from $8,857 to more than $18,000. The contract was awarded to F. M. Milovich of Montebello, lowest bidder.
Three bids were opened for a city incinerator and referred to a committee to decide on the type desired.
The much-mooted Starbuck-rd. was discussed, but no action taken pending the efforts of the board to find the status quo.
The $2,800 bill for Fullerton's quota in the recent liquor raid expense was not brot up, but it is understood the board is holding secret conferences regarding the matter. The Fullerton W. C. T. U. has urged payment of the bill.
MERGE ASS'NS
SACRAMENTO, Dec. 10—Consolidation of Sacramento Valley Development Ass'n with the Calif. Dev. Ass'n will probably result from negotiations started at the annual convention of the latter organization now in progress here, it was announced today.
Plans for the merger were made by W. A. Beard, president of the Valley Ass'n, in conference with Norman H. Slonee, general manager of the state body.
Beard left today for Washington to act as special agent for the state ass'n in a move to secure federal assistance in the investigation of California's water resources.
