SACRAMENTO, Dec. 9—A delegation from the State Amn of County Horticultural Commissioners, in annual session here today, called on G. H. Hecke, director of the state department of agriculture, and requested that he draft a new fruit and vegetable standardization act to supplant the one now in effect. California fruits shipped east this year were not up to the standard, the delegation declared, and an inferior product reacted unfavorably against the industry.
Hecke has agreed to draw up a new statute correcting imperfections found in the present law, it was announced.
C. K. Turner, commissioner of Blacor-co., was elected president of the state association for the coming year. R. R. McLean of San Diego was chosen vice-president and A. H. Call of Ventura was named to the secretaryship.
