CULVER CITY TO SEE GR 700 TOURISTS PER DAY BY CHRISTMAS Records of 1923 To Be Erased, Indications With the first touch of winter the eastern states and the increase in cold weather and snoworms, the trend of motor travel points to the Southland, and on the figures recently received from the touring bureau of the to Club of So. Calif., the total number of cars which will enter state from eastern and mid-western states in the next 90 days should exceed last year's figure. Ladies' Troubles Are Little Ones One-third of the troubles of a motorist on the highway that may cause a car to stall can be remedied in 7 minutes of mechanical service. Women drivers call for help more frequently than men, but their troubles are not as serious. Southern California apparently holds the record for high percentage of feminine motorists. These are some of the conclusions reached from the first two months of operation of the emergency road service department of the Auto Club of So. Calif., which serves 104,000 members of the organization throughout this section. A total of 8,000 members with disabled cars received service on the highway on their own request during 60 days. Reduced to percentages this means that 1.5 per cent of the cars on the highways became stalled once each month. It is not simply a local policy of our own, but a principle laid down by headquarters and adhered to. On the other hand, he paints a rosy picture of the future possibilities of travel by heavier-than-air craft, to which he has now turned his attention. "It is only a question of a few years before it will be possible to travel generally just as safely by air as by railway, steamer or motor car." Dr. Dohrbach declared in an interview. "To my mind the future in the air lies in the construction of all-metal airplanes and seaplanes." "I have turned my attention to the construction of commercial seaplanes made entirely of duralumin. Three such machines are being tested at Copenhagen and will shortly be put on a commercial route which is as yet being kept secret." "The world has not yet realized the potential possibilities of commercial aviation. If the money were forthcoming we could fly machines, with 150-foot wing spread, capable of carrying forty persons, and equipped if necessary, with dining rooms." Pietro Bordino, "the Mad Mul-lah" of Italy, heads the invading foreign contingent. Bordino will drive his famous Flat, "the fastest car in Europe." This is Bordino's second trip to this country. He first raced in California in 1922 when he was a sensation at the old Beverly Bowl track.
