ANALYZE BLOOD ON HANDKERCHIEF SAN BERNARDINO, Dec. 2— SPECIAL DANCE SCENE IN FILM Lovers of interpretative dancing are offered a rare treat in "Behold This Woman," which opens a two-day engagement at YANKS MAY GET URBAN SHOCKU HARTFORD, Cona., Dec. Until a late hour last night the prominent gentlemen of the profession sat with heads together in room just off the lobby of Hotel Bond, headquarters of annual meeting today of the National Ass'n of Professional Ball Clubs. They were Col. Jacob Ruiz and Edward G. Barrow, respectively president and business manager of the New York Yankees and Geo. Sisler and Bill Frieden, retainer of the St. Louis Browns. Perhaps their discussion, if was purely social. However was reported the name of U.S. Shocker, spitball pitcher, was mentioned somewhere in the general conversation. Some time ago Sisler let it known that Shocker had outlived his welcome in St. Louis. Yanks hastened to acknowledge the fact that the young man may be tolerated in New York. The original tip on the Shade deal was that the Yanks had clined to part company with W. Hoyt, but might do business with Bob Shawkey or Sam Jones if proved acceptable to St. Louis, names of Outfielders William the Browns and Meusel of Yanks also figured in the discussion which followed. Manager Miller Huggins of Yanks arrived in town after conference had expended its storie. Nothing doing with me at moment. I'm just saying "thou to the boys," quoth Miller. The International League expected to do quite a bit of business with the managers at conclave. Its recent acceptance of the modified draft has laid open for overtures from the timers and some few of its principal adjuncts may be disposed of. However, definite action, for most part, was postponed. ANALYZE BLOOD ON HANDKERCHIEF SAN BERNARDINO, Dec. 2.—Analysis of blood found in a handkerchief may solve the mystery death of William R. Fee, alfalfa banker, the authorities said today. A blood stained handkerchief discovered in a cabin close to the lodge of Miss Mary Watkins, the slain man's "perfect love" sweetheart, where Fee's body was found, was considered the one important clue in the mystery on which a solution hinged. If an analysis should prove that the handkerchief was stained with Fee's blood, samples of which were taken shortly after the body was found, it would show conclusively that he was murdered and the clue might lead to locating the slayer, the authorities said. Efforts of the officers to question Miss Mary Bell, stenographer, member of the weekend house party given in Miss Watkins' cabin the night Fee disappeared, failed to uncover new clues. The girl examined for more than an hour, revealed nothing to shed any light in the mystery. The strange disappearance of James Wynn, San Bernardino taxi cab driver and the finding of his bloodstained car could not be connected today with the Fee mystery. The investigating officer said there was nothing to show that Wynn had, as reported, carried principal witnesses in the investigation in his car recently. Mrs. Anna Sutton Fee, the banker's widow, declared her husband, she was certain, had been murdered. At the same time, it was intimated Mrs. Fee intended. If necessary, to launch a legal battle for the possession of love letters exchanged between her husband and Miss Watkins. The packet of letters is now in the possession of Sheriff Shay, who has refused to give them to the widow. CHAPLIN'S BRIDE ONLY 16 YEARS OLD LOS ANGELES, Dec. 2.—When Lita Grey, whose true name was Lillian Louise McMurray, married Charlie Chaplin in Empalme, Mexico, last week, she gained three years in age. Mrs. Chaplin, her relatives admitted here today, is only 16. The comedian is 35. She was born in Cahunga, in the Hollywood district, April 15, 1908, according to official birth records. SPECIAL DANCE SCENE IN FILM Lovers of interpretative dancing are offered a rare treat in "Behold This Woman," which opens a two-day engagement at the United theater tonight. In one of the spectacular sequences Ernest Belcher and 16 of his dancers perform a famous classic which is seldom interpreted. The sequence has been declared one of the most beautiful ever shown on the screen. All the resources of the Belcher organization were utilized. Against this background Rosemary Theby, as a world famous dancer who lives in Hollywood and is ambitious to enter filmland, interprets several classic steps. Miss Theby is a terpsichoran artist of no mean ability and her work in this production has been brot to the attention of several critics, who were lavish in their praise of her work. When the picture was screened in private in Hollywood there were in the audience three managers who immediately got in touch with Miss Theby and offered her attractive contracts to tour the country as an interpretative dancer. Miss Theby, however, declined the offer, as she prefers to remain in pictures, where she has established an enviable reputation. There are two more leading women of note in this production: Morris Rich and Miss Marcuiter de Is Motte. The male support is justly notable. Charles B. Post, Andres Randolf and Harry Meyers, do very excellent work. "PAY NIGHT" AT UNITED THURSDAY Thursday night the United theater will inaugurate something new and novel. Each patron upon entering the theater will receive a pay envelope, in which will contain cash money ranging from one cent up. Twenty-five dollars in cash will be given away in this manner. Manager Anderson, always on the lookout for something new to offer the natrons of the United theater, will present this pay day every Thursday night with the exception of holidays. There will be no gifts, nothing but cash will be given away. Pay day to most people comes on Saturday night, but at the United theater it will come on Thursday, so be sure to come early and get your pay envelope from the paymaster. On the screen will be seen Carmel Meyers, who has been chosen after many months' deliberation to play the leading female role in "Ben Hur." which is now being presented with me at moment. I'm just saying "To the boys," quoth Miller. The International League is expected to do quite a bit of business with the managers at concave. Its recent acceptance of the modified draft has laid open for overtures from the timers and some few of its present adjuncts may be disposed of However, definite action for most part, was a postponed for The following were exceptions: "Eric Erickson, formerly peter of the Washington Seneca was sold from Minneapolis to ronto and the tip was brought that the next meeting would be Catalina Island at the earnest heat of Oscar Reichow, of the Angeles club, speaking for Wrigley. Contrary resolutions are exited to be offered by Dallasville, N.C., and Atlanta, the even going so far as to see Leon Williams, secretary of Foe of C., posthaste to the scene or debate. "Doc" Strube of San Francisco has much business to transact it will not involve Bert Ellison player manager, at least so of the Cincinnati Reds are concede Jack Hendricks, Red's man assured the writer today would son and abandoned his quest of son and would play Ruble Brun on first next season. Hal Rhyne, shortstop, sought both Giants and Yanks, and fielders Wander and Valla are of Strube's chattles on the map The Yanks are said to be se Valla, altho Wander is believed be the better prospect. In his years of professional baseball he hit .354 and .226 repeat in the coast league. Another mystery deals with alleged interest of the Glan Rhyne. They are supposed to quite a rising young shortstist Travis Jackson. But who happens, John McGraw will no part in it. Jas Tierner secretarial man of business today that John would turn missing at the current meetin In a legislative way they out that the minors will str oppose the Ruppert project f creasing off season league player limit from 40 men, the number of years which a man may be sent o option from two to five. Opposition also has dev against Connie Mack's play have the player receive 1 cent of his purchase price ever; there is a possibility compromise whereby they and minors will split the commission on his purchase to include the 10 per cent will go to the player. PRESIDENT WON CHAPLIN'S BRIDE ONLY 16 YEARS OLD LOS ANGELES, Dec. 2.—When Lita Grey, whose true name was Lillian Louise McMurray, married Charlie Chaplin in Empalme, Mexico, last week, she gained three years in age. Mrs. Chaplin, her relatives admitted here today, is only 16. The comedian is 35. She was born in Cahunga, in the Hollywood district, April 15, 1908, according to official birth records here and her grandfather, W. E. Curry, admitted today Mrs. Chaplin was only 16. "Business reasons made it necessary to give the age as 19 when Lita was married in Mexico," Mrs. Lillian Spieer, Mrs. Chaplin's mother said. Mr. and Mrs. Chaplin were barricaded in the 40 room Chaplin castle in Hollywood and refused to answer telephone or door bells. Whether Mrs. Chaplin will be forced to return to school in compliance with California's laws which enforce school attendance upon all under 18, will be decided by authorities today, it was said. The Chaplin-Grey wedding was perfectly legal in Mexico, it was claimed as marriages of girls under 16 we permitted them. "We consulted the best lawyers in Mexico," Curry said, "and they said the marriage was legal in every way. The public, thru publicity, had been informed some time ago that Miss Grey was 18 and for that reason we did not think it best to announce she was not that old." They were Col. Jacob Rupert Edward G. Barrow, representative and business man of the New York Yankees, Joe Sisler and Bill Friel, secretary of the St. Louis Browns. He pursued their discussion, if any, purely social. However, it reported the name of Urban Spitball pitcher, was mentioned somewhere in the general information. Some time ago Sisler let it be that Shocker outlasted Welcome in St. Louis. The has hastened to acknowledge that the young man might tolerate in New York. The original tip on the Shocker was that the Yanks had decided to part company with White but might do business with Shawkey or Sam Jones if that acceptable to St. Louis. This is one of Outfielders Williams of Browns and Meusel of the team also figured in the discus-sion which followed. Manager Miller Huggins of the team arrived in town after the conference had expended its rie-thing doing with me at this moment. I'm just saying "hello" by boys," quotch Miller. The International League is ex-ited to do quite a bit of busi-ness with the managers at this cave. Its recent acceptance of the modified draft has laid it for overtures from the big teams and some few of its promo-adjuncts may be disposed of, however, definite action, for the part, was a postponed issue. NOTRE DAME IN FOOTBALL LEAD NEW YORK, Dec. 2.—Remove the tinfoil and tissue paper wrapping, waft a handful of dew over the collection and present the cor-age of American beauties to Notre Dame University. For the first time, these many years, we have an unchallenged national champion of collegiate football and Notre Dame is it. One can no more go behind the tape of his neck and the records show the Irish to be the only undefeated and united football team of any consequence between the two oceans. Dartmouth has as sound a record as any eleven in eastern football. Yet Dartmouth was tied by Vale, which in turn was tied by West Point, which lost to Notre Dame. Yale, another unbeaten eastern team, is eliminated from national consideration by the same equation. Pennsylvania's record likewise is untarnished by defeat, but Pennsylvania was tied by Penn State, which was beaten by Georgia Tech, which lost to Notre Dame. So much for the east. The middle west has Chicago as champion of its big ten conference but the Stagg entry lost its opening game to Missouri and was tied by Ohio State and Wisconsin which lost to Notre Dame. And what of Missouri? It was beaten by Nebraska, which also disposed of Kansas before coming on to South Bend to lose to Notre Dame. That would seem to eliminate the Missouri Valley conference in toto as far as Notre Dame is concerned. The southern champion is Centre College, because of its victories over Alabama and Georgia. But the Colonels finished second to West Virginia which lost to Pittsburgh, which lost to Carnegie Tech, which lost to Notre Dame. Thus far the cycle of elimination is perfect. It leads back to South Bend, Ind., for its elmax in place. Urges Women Upon Boxing Commission SACRAMENTO, Dec. 2.—Proposal that Gov. Richardson name a state boxing commission composed of three women—the president of the W.C. T.U., the Sister Superior of San Jose Convent, and a lady of the Jewish Relief Board of San Francisco has been made to the governor by an Oakland business man, according to a statement released by the governor's office. “This letter is not written as a joke but in earnest,” declared the Oakland merchant. “You could show these women it is their duty to assume such a position. Would, of course, practically nullify the prize fight law, but such nullification would not hurt the state materially. It certainly would be a solar plexus blow to the fight promoting contingency to have a woman commission.” BRIGHT PROSPECTS FOR HOOP TEAM There will be lively basketball scrimmages tonight at Excelsior Union Hi near Norwalk when the Anaheim varsity and 90-pounders will play the similar teams of their opponents. This is only one of several games this week. Wednesday evening the Santa Ana Junior College first and second teams will play the local garsity and second teams here. Friday evening the Corona Hi varsity will play the local varsity here. There will be another game for the 90-pounders also this week. Orange won the championship in the league last year against Anaheim, Capistrano, Huntington Beach, Tustin and Garden Grove. Anaheim tied for second place. U.S.C. Its recent acceptance the modified draft has laid it for overtures from the big bars and some few of its promadjuncts may be disposed of. Following were exceptions: Eric Erickson, formerly pitcher of the Washington Senators, sold from Minneapolis to Toto and the tip was broadcast the next meeting would go to Minna Island at the earnest beof Oscar Rielchow, of the Los Sies club, speaking for Bill Lley. Strube of San Francisco much business to transact but will not involve Bert Ellison, his mer manager, at least so far in Cincinnati Reds are concerned. Rhyne, shortstop, sought by Glants and Yanks, and Outfires Waner and Valla are some truble chattels on the market. Yanks are said to be seeking a altho Waner is believed to the better prospect. In his two cases of professional baseball he has 354 and 226, respectively the coast league. The mystery deals with the need interest of the Giants in Jackson. But whatever John McGraw will have part in it, Jas Tierney, his metrical man of business said that John would turn up using at the current meeting. A legislative way the tip is that the minors will strongly pose the Ruppert project for insisting the off season major player limit from 40 to 50, the number of years under which a man may be sent out on son from two to five. Apposition also has developed Connie Mack's plan to hire the player receive 10 per cent of his purchase price. RESIDENT WON'T MEET IN FRISCO SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 2.—Wille Hoppe, world's 18.2 balk line billiard champion, and Jake Schaefer, former champion and now challenger for Hoppe's title, meet here tonight to start the second lap of the 6400 point match which was begun in Los Angeles last week. Hoppe is in the lead so far, having completed his 3200 points in Los Angeles as against Schaefer's 2898. The match will last four days, 800 points being the goal set for each day. HARTZ SPEEDS UP CULVER CITY SPEEDWAY, LOS ANGELES, Dec. 2.—Warming by Nebraska, which also disposed of Kansas before coming on to South Bend to lose Notre Dame. It leads back to South Bend, Ind., for its elimax in every case. The only break in the continuity is found on the far coast which has had no contest to date with football as played in the east, middle west and south. The championship team of the coast conference is Leland Stanford. It might be the greatest team in the world, at that, but you will exhaust your supply of rhetoric before you can convince a California man that this is fact; no fancy, California and Stanford played a 20 to 20 tie in their game, so that even in its own section, Stanford's title is by no means conclusive. If Stanford and Notre Dame are to meet in a post season game, as has been suggested and never convincingly denied, the issue may be settled with definite finality. If not, Notre Dame rates the national championship without a dissenting vote. TONY FUENTE QUITS "WINDY" WINSOR PHOENIX, Artz., Dec. 2.—Declaring he had broken with his manager, Fred (Windy) Winsor, and that he would not box Charlie Weinert in Jersey City on Dec. 15, Tony Fuente, Los Angeles heavyweight, arrived here today. The pugilist said he would leave in a few days for Mexico City where he would box Bartley Madden New Year's Day. Fuente said after the Mexican fight he would return to Los Angeles to face charges in connection with the bout in which Fred Fulton was accused of taking a "flop" for Fuente's benefit. 12—DIES IN CHICAGO MEET IN FRISCO SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 2.—Wille Hoppe, world's 18.2 balk line billiard champion, and Jake Schaefer, former champion and now challenger for Hoppe's title, meet here tonight to start the second lap of the 6400 point match which was begun in Los Angeles last week.
