MUNGER With a number of the deep-test wells in the central west section and the northwest area of the Roserana field getting some good and very satisfactory showing the stage seems to be getting ready for a new record for deep sand oil production in the Los Angeles Basin. The outstanding features for a new depth at which oil operators are about to take production from the Roserana area appeared in the Union Oil Co.'s Trust No. 1 and the General Petroleum Corp.'s Amstoy well. From 5700 to 5800 the Union is encountering showings of oil and gas that points to production. A nice showing at 5985 and another at 6015 are making the Amstoy well look like it will make good. Production in commercial quantity below the 6000 mark will set a new record for oil production not only for California but for the entire world. The attention of oil operators interested in the outcome of the extreme northwest section of the field has turned back to the Dabney well. Mr. Dabney tried for a production test at 5241 and finding nothing has resumed drilling in the hope of finding something deeper. The present depth of the well is given 5266 and to date the outlook has not improved. Over on the northeast section of the Roserana field the Standard Oil Co. has drilled 5165 feet of hole at Cowan No. 1 and to date has not found anything that bears resemblance to oil or gas mining. YORBA LINDA YORBA LINDA, Nov. 19. (Spl.) Mr. and Mrs. Hurless Barton are the proud parents of a baby girl born Monday. Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Eichler entertained out of town friends on Sunday. Seloyer attended a luncheon on Saturday at the Geislinger home at Huntington Park given in honor of an old Canadian friend. Mrs. Georgia Thing of Los Angeles spent the week-end on the ranch. Mr. Douglas of the La Habra "Star" was a recent visitor in town. Mr. W. S. Niobolson has returned from a few days visit with his son Howard and wife of Long Beach. Mr. L. L. Fisher who has been foreman at the Foothill Groves Packing house the past two years has accepted a similar position at Puente and has entered on his new duties. Mr. A. E. Tayles has gone to England for a visit. He had planned the trip for several months and wished to see his mother but last week received word of her death. He plans to return in April. Friends here have received word from Mrs. Edha Reed, that she and her baby arrived safely in England and are visiting at the home of her husband's parents. That on the day of November, 1924, the Trustees of the City of Amber passed and adopted its Resolution No. 183 to order following described street weave be done in said City towline a portion of certain alley lines from the Southern proline of West South Street Northerly property line of Vermont avenue in said Closed up in part. SECTION II. That the landed necessary to be taken for and that portion of said running line of West South Street Northerly property line of Vermont Avenue here must be closed up is a extreme northwest section of the Rosecrana field the Standard Oil Co. has drilled 5165 feet of hole at Cowan No. 1 and to date has not found anything that bears resemblance to oil or gas strings. The Superior Oil Co.'s Maxwell No. 3 made a production test at 1250 got an approved water shut-off and is now going ahead drilling. The intention to be the opening up of more oil sand before going on final production. The Superior's Van Nuys No. 1 is making hole at 4600 in sandy shale. The Domingues field continues to furnish 1500 and 2000-barrel wells and is not only holding its own splendid production, but is making substantial weekly increases to its output. The Shell Co. of Calif. completed another big well on the Reyes property that increased the field's output 2000 barrels. Reyes No. 18 at 4054 feet was the well that made the contribution. In addition to bringing in good producers with regularity the Shell Co. is devoting a lot of attention to exploration work, especially deep sand. She Shell Co.'s Hellman No. 1 now drilling at 5625 is one of the wells that is being watched with interest. Hellman No. 1 has had a number of good showings and it is believed the showings to date will be sufficient to insure a commercial well. A land and lease deal of some importance was concluded at Domingues the past week when the Domingues Petroleum Corp. closed a deal involving the 57-acre Deland property. The Del Amo adjoins the Shell Co.'s Reyes and Domingues holdings and is considered a good piece of property. This deal makes the Henderson Petroleum Corp. an independent operator is the Domingues field. The deep sand outlook for Torrance has not improved during the past week and operators are about to lose hope in the idea. Leading the deep sand search is the Charler-Canfield Midway's Redondo well Francis No. 1 now drilling at 6199 feet. Today this well has not had a thing that would offer the slightest encouragement. Next in order is the Shell Co.'s Kettner No. 2 now well over the 5100 mark and like the C. C. M. O. has nothing to show. The Laura J Oil Co. drilling a deep sand test well in the Lomita section of the field has made some 4650 feet of hole and has encountered some showings that look a little bit encouraging. Operators are of the opinion that if the Torrance field has a depe sand at all, the Lomita section of the field should produce extreme northwest section of the Rosecrana field the Standard Oil Co. has drilled 5165 feet of hole at Cowan No. 1 and to date has not found anything that bears resemblance to oil or gas strings.
