To continue until Nov. 2, or longer. The church has secured Rev. W. P. Jay of Nampa, Idaho, as the evangelist; Rev. Jay is originally from the south, and testifies that while his wife got him out of the south, she was unable to get the south out of him. Rev. Jay has been in the evangelistic work in the south and northwest for a number of years and is well known. He is also a special singer and writes his own songs which are in the southern melodies. You will be delighted to hear him as he is different from ordinary type of evangelists, being in a class largely his own. He will preach and sing every night at 7:30 and Sunday at 11 a.m. Come and hear him. Everybody welcome. Dr. and Mrs. W. E. Jackson, of the emergency hospital, gave a children's party Friday afternoon celebrating the seventh birthday of their small daughter, Mariam, who shared the pleasures of the occasion with 32 of her young friends. Halloween decorations adorned the table at which the birthday luncheon was served and little yellow and black baskets filled with candy and nuts, marked the places. A birthday cake, with seven lighted candles, was the center of interest. Ice cream and cake were served. From three until six the children played merry games. The little honoree was showered with lovely gifts. Children attending the party were Marian Sullivan, Alice Sullivan, Sedalia Danielle, Betty Lou Clayton, Betty Burns, Billy Burns, Carrie Burns, Lucy Fay Denham, Fern Denham, Helen Hay, Ruth PICKED TO BECOME COMMANDER AT NAVAL ACADEMY BUENA PARK BUENA PARK, Oct. 20. (Spl.) Mr. and Mrs. Arni Nelson hospitably turned over their home to a group of our young ladies to entertain their friends with a party Friday night. The young people enjoyed themselves with games and dancing and at a late hour refreshments of tamale pie and punch were served. The out of town guests were: Miss Dorothy Forester, Anabele Mason, Helen Williams, Lillian Woods, Chester Wolff, Ted Payton, Lee O'Kelly, Charles McKnight, Louis Velaseo, and Clyde Daniels; Buena Park guests were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Chandler, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Spohn, Misses Mabel Robison, Jean McGill, Cleo Smith, Margie Lee, Bunice Mann, Mildred Bacon, Mrs. H. G. Davis, Richard Davis, Mr. Orval Stanford. Four stores in the new Schumacher-Trapp-Goldeg store are already returned. Mrs. L. J. Robeson attended the Pennsylvania plenic at Sycamore Grove Saturday. J. J. Kane has been superintending the construction work for the Stannard Oil Co. Mrs. John Andrews and children of Long Beach were the guests of Mrs. John Boyle and family Friday. Mrs. Clarissa Myers of Redondo was the guest of her niece Mrs. J. E. Wright the past week. Mrs. Charles Hillman and baby daughter is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Whitezell. Mr. and Mrs. James Reynolds of Long Beach formerly of Brea were calling on old neighbors and friends Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sarles, and daughters, Lila, Opal and Fern were Los Angeles visitors Wednesday. Mrs. J. N. Wicklett entertained at dinner Tuesday, Mrs. C. H. Hervey and son of Fullerton. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Bergman, and sons Walter and Morris and Mrs. Burgman's mother, Mrs. C. V. Morris left early Friday morning for Calexico, where Mrs. Morris makes her home with her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Goode and family. They will remain there several days before returning to Brea. Mrs. Morris has won the love and affection of the Brea people and her leaving will be regretted by her many friends, she having made her home here for several months with her daughter, Mrs. J. F. Burgrman. Miss Margaret-Corlette is home after spending a delightful weekend in San Diego with relatives and friends, while there she visited her mother's brother, Dr. W. E. Shelby and the sister Mrs. Margaret Gaches. Mrs. James A. Mabee and Mr. and Mrs. M. Chambers, were Los Angeles business visitors Friday. Mrs. Fay Tussy, on South Orange-et is very ill. Mrs. E. R.
