Real Estate and Rentals CLAIM RUM SHIP OUTSIDE LIMIT SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 14 — Seizure of the British ship, Quadra, carrying a $500,000 cargo of liquor off this port, and arrest of her crew on charges of conspiracy to violate the American prohibition laws, may result in international complications, and in any event is expected to bring a legal decision which will have an important bearing on future seizures on the Pacific coast. Twenty members of the Quadra crew, who are free under $5000 bonds each furnished by a bonding concern appeared for arraignment before U.S. Commissioner Francis J. Krull today. Captain Geo. Ford had retained former Asst. U.S. Dist. Atty. Kenneth Green to represent him and his men. Captain Ford denied the ship was within the 12-mile limit, claiming it was 17 miles to the seaward of the North Falloranes, when the revenue cutter Shawnee made the capture. He claimed also that it required two hours and 45 minutes for the Shawnee to tow in the vessel. Capt. Howell of the Shawnee refused to discuss this angle, other than to say his evidence would be presented in court regarding the position of the vessel. Libel proceedings were expected to be started against the Quadra today by the U.S. Dist. Attorney's office. TIE AT ORANGE Orange held San Diego to a scoreless tie Saturday at Orange. Calif., whether it goes to points within the first, second or third zones, is all that is required to bring the government to establish regular air mail service between Los Angeles and Salt Lake and from Salt Lake to New York and intervening points. The entire section south of the Tehacchapis may contribute to the 500-pound total. W.E. LaFollette, western division superintendent of the U.S. air mail service, made this announcement in Los Angeles yesterday. Construction of a Douglas plane in the south similar to the planes used in the round-the-world flight has been ordered for the service. Air mail service between Los Angeles and Salt Lake would put the south on an equality with San Francisco and the north. CLAIM HIJACKERS KILL POLICEMAN SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 14 — Police today charged three members of an alleged hijacking gang with the murder of police Sergeant M.J. Brady, who was shot to death when he attempted to prevent a suspected "hijacking holdup." William Rinehart, Emmanuel Robinson and Patrick Haughey are the three charged with the murder and police claim Rinehart and Haughey have confessed, naming Robinson as the "gunman." Pretty Mildred Summers, found in the apartment of Rinehart, is being held as a material witness. Additional arrests of members of the gang are expected according to police.
