M. Backs, county clerk. This compares with 4046 for Anaheim, and 3505 for Fullerton at the presidential election in 1920 and shows the growth these cities have made within the past four years, the clerk pointed out. Deputies working in Backs' office computed the county's total for this year's ballot as 41,347 and of this number 26,459 are Republicans. The total registered vote in 1920 for the county was 25,-128. A surprising comparison, it was agreed, was the gain of voters made in the third district, which comprises largely Northern Orange county. This district, for the first time in history, has a larger total than the first district, which is the incorporated city of Santa Ana. In the third district-14,438 are eligible to vote, while the figure in the first district is 11,274. The percentage or total of Republican and Democratic voters in each of the cities of the county was not compiled by the county clerk. Of the total number, 26,459 expressed Republican party affiliation, 9467, Democratic, and 566 either Socialist or Progressive. The balance of the 41,347 persons registering either refused to state party affiliation or chose a dozen or more minority organizations. When the registration books were closed last Saturday, County Clerk Backs predicted the total registration would be in excess of 15c per Line, for 3 times. 25c per line for 6 times. $1.00 per line per month. No charged ad accepted at less than 45c. Phone 151. No ad accepted nor canceled after 11 a.m. on day of publication. ADMIRERS NEARLY MOB MACDONALD LONDON, Oct. 27. — Lord Ernest Hamilton indicated that the Macdonnal will be active in his statement: "The British Fascists are prepared to come to aid where the independence of voters is threatened by terrorists." Ramsay MacDonald, "Labor leader, departing on a tour which takes him first to Glasgow and which will include 10 speeches before next Friday, was nearly mobbed by his admirers as he made his way thru cheering throttles to take a train. "It's the biggest fight the Labor party ever had." MacDonald told his supporters. "We've come to-day. Now is the hour and we will seize it." The crowd was enthusiastically cheering and singing as he passed through the station gates. The opposition press today claims the Communists will support Labor candidates despite labor's refusal to affiliate with the Communist party. The opposition also claims that labor is making overtures to Liberals of the left wing. FRANK POPE WILL SUCCEED E. A. WHITE Frank J. Pope of Santa Ana succeeds Everett A. When the registration books were closed last Saturday, County Clerk Backs predicted the total registration would be in excess of 40,000. He based this prediction on the last-minute rush that was experienced at his and other offices and on the fact that slightly more than 38,000 persons were on the rolls for the August primary. After the greetings were over, Billy said, "How in the world did you two find me?" "In this way," answered Subby. "As soon as we heard you were in Chicago, we determined to come and search for you until we found you. And it was easier than we dared to hope it would be, for on the first street we walked down after entering the city we saw your picture displayed on a movie sign, showing your fighting a ferocious bulldog." "That is a splendid likeness of you, Billy," interrupted Button, "but neither Stub nor I envied you your job of fighting that brutal looking dog." "Ha, ha! Ho, ho!" laughed Bil- "That is a good joke on you. That is not my picture at all!" "Not your picture?" they exclaimed. No. But I don't blame you for thinking it was...for it bears such a close resemblance to me. It fooled me when I first looked at it. Only I knew I could not have been snapped any time when not aware of it, for I had never been in a fight with a bulldog like that. Now this is where our luck came in," said Stub. "As we stood before the picture wondering how we could find out where the studio was. Where it had been taken, three boys came along and stopped to look at the picture. One exclaimed, 'I've seen that very goat!' And I know where they are taking pictures of him!" FRANK POPE WILL SUCCEED E. A. WHITE Frank J. Pope of Santa Ana succeeds Everett A. White as vice-president in this district of the State Real Estate Ass'n, following the convention which closed Saturday at Pasadena. D. Richard Ainley of Presno was elected president for the long term starting Jan. 2 and Everett A. White for the short term start- ing at once. But you don't! You are only talking through your hat,' replied one of the others. "IIf you don't believe me, I'll show him to you,' was the offer. "Oh, yes, you will!" taunted the other. "Very well, you doubting Thomases, come with me over to the Emmanuel Studio and I'll show him to you." "How far is it?" Only three or four blocks from here,' and they all started off. Of course we followed. And here we are! Did you ever hear of anything so lucky? Well, I declare! exclaimed Mr. Strobel as he stepped out of the studio into the yard with Mr. Dates and Mr. Benton, and saw Billy, Stubby and Button. "If here isn't just the combination we want for our scene this afternoon! A goat, a dog and a cat. And such a cute little dog, too not much to look at for beauty. But, oh, my, oh, me! that cat is a beauty! I am going to dress him up like a dandy dude for my cat picture and show him flirting with a white cat, all dressed up as a pretty girl. Then I am going to have an old Angora dressed as the girl's mother come down the street pushing a doll carriage with a little kitten in it fixed up as a baby. That cat is so large and has such big yellow eyes he will look cute when I have him all rigged out as an English dude with a monocle. (And tomorrow we'll see how Button and Stubby took to the idea of working in a motion picture studio.) 4 TRIPS DAILY To meet the demands of our Anaheim patrons we have arranged for a four trip daily freight schedule between Anaheim and Los Angeles.
