STOCK MARKET DULL AND WEAK
NEW YORK, Oct. 4.—The stock market was dull and irregular in the early trading today and in elicited to continue the decline in stock prices which featured the close of the previous session. The industrial leaders were all down from a fraction to a full point at the opening, while railroad shares were mixed in their movements, recoveries taking place in many of the active stocks.
Selling pressure relaxed before the end of the first hour, however, and the market appeared to be in a sold, out condition. Drives against the market leaders were repulsed and little headway was made by the bears against the oil stocks. Good buying of industrial shares was encouraged by the favorable tenor of the weekend business and industrial reports, showing conclusively that the trend of business is still upward. It was also seen that there was little enforced liquidation of weakly marginated accounts in any part of the market.
An upward trend in prices of the industrials leaders in the second hour strengthened the whole market and a moderate rally took place. American Can being no longer pressed for sale as at yesterday's close, and advanced to 121½, a full point above the low of that season. U.S. Steel Hardwin, American Woolen, General Electric, Standard Oil of New Jersey were in the forefront of the advance and railroad stocks were stimulated by the accumulation of investment buying.
Cotton also was favorably affected by the cheerful week-end BUENA PARK
BUENA PARK, Oct. 4.—Mr. and Mrs. Clare Miller have purchased the Buena Park grocery store near the library from Mr. K. Moe. Mr. and Mrs. Moe are leaving soon for North Dakota. Mr. and Mrs. Miller opened the store under the new management Monday morning. These good people do not need an introduction to our people as they are old time Buena Park people. Mr. Miller is well experienced in the grocery business as he was associated with the J. W. Bishon Co. for several years. Mr. and Mrs. Miller expect to enlarge the stock and make the store up-to-date in every particular. They will run the store on a cash basis and will give the green trading stamps. Their many friends wish them success in this new venture. Mr. and Mrs. Miller will reside in the rooms at the rear of the store, and rent their home on Tenth-st., furnished.

FRUIT MOVEMENT HEAVY IN SEPT.
Basing his prediction on the fact of the law of averages, Manager Dale King of the Northern Orange Citrus Exchange declared today in response to a query that the proportion of medium sized and small oranges next year will be considerably larger than this year, which has shown the smallest percentage on record.
King admitted that small sizes were due to the age of the tree as well as to the fact that the tree took that method of conserving its vitality, but said that younger trees would be bearing more heavily also because of greater maturity.
September shipments from No Orange-ce.complaining the territory covered by the northern exchange, but including also independents, amounted to approximately 644 cars of oranges and 40 cars of lemons. Cars still to go total some 1125 of oranges and 36 of lemons.
Shipments will be steady during the rest of the season to Nov., and prices, it is hoped, will hold up.
Less than 200 cars will be shipped from the territory covered by the local exchange this week and next.
British Royal Baby Christened Today
LONDON, Oct. 4.-England's newest royal baby, the son of Princess Mary, was christened today at a private ceremony in Goldborough. He was named Gerald David.
The ceremony was surrounded by secrecy and mystery, neither the king or queen attending, while the Prince of Wales and Duchess of York its good parents were represented by proxy. The absence of the royal family occasioned much discussion here. The public also was excluded from the event.
