CITRUS GROWERS TO HAVE SCHOOL Citrus growers of Orange-co will be glad to learn that the College of Agriculture and the Agriculture Extension Service have finally arranged to meet popular demand for a short course to cover the various problems confronting the citrus grower in the section. Heretofore short courses have only been held at Berkeley and Davis. This year, however, thru the urgent request of the irrut departments of the Farm Bureaus of So. Calif. the College of Agriculture has agreed to depart from the usual course and establish a location more convenient for the majority of the citrus growers of So. Calif. Whittier has been selected as the location of this school as it was thought most convenient for both Los Angeles and Orange-co growers. The date for the Citrulture School has been set for the week of Oct. 27 to Nov. 1, inclusive. Subjects to be taken up will include soil management, fertilization, pruning, treatment of truck and root diseases, methods of restoring injured trees, pest control by spraying and fumigation, orchard heating, orchard analysis and windbreak management. V New Today NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that satisfied proposals or bids will be received by the Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim at the office of the City Clerk of said City up to Thursday, October 22 at no hour of eight o'clock but for the furnishing to said City of Anaheim with specifications therefore adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim by resolution on the 25th day of September, 1924, and which are on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Anaheim, and which are hereby referred to and are by this reference made a part of this notice. Price quoted in bids must be for said automobile P.O.B., Anaheim, California and bidder to state the name of manufacturer and time of delivery. Each proposal or bid must be accompanied by a check certified by a responsible bank or a bond executed by two good and sufficient sureties, who shall justify in double the amount of said bond in unencumbered property within the State of California, (other than property exempt from execution) or by a corporation authorized to execute bonds and undertakings within the State of California, which check or bond shall be made payable to said City of Anaheim and the same shall be forfeited to said City as liquidated damages if within ten days after the acceptance of any such bid, the bidder falls to enter into a contract with the City of Anaheim for the furnishing and delivery of said automobile. The successful bidder must within ten days after the contract is awarded to him, enter into a contract with the City of Anaheim providing for the sale and delivery of said automobile in accordance with said specifications, together with a good and sufficient bond executed by at least two sureties who shall qualify in double the amount of said bond in unencumbered property within the State of California or by a corporation authorized to execute bonds undertakings within the said State of California, to be approved by the Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim, in an amount equal to one-half of the contract price. New Irrigative Method According to an announcement from the farm advisors special field meeting an attraction has been scheduled Friday at 2 p.m. at the W. B. Kendrick and his safety director, Gen.Smedley D.Buler, has been brought to a peaceful settlement. The mayor summoned newspaper men to his office today and announced that a reconciliation between himself and the general had been effected by mutual friends and that he had decided to allow the latter to retain his position as safety director. Overhead irrigation is a comparatively new departure in Orange-co, particularly in orchard use.
