Even the most skeptical reformists cannot help being pressed with the vividness of picture. As to its fidelity, there can be little tion. Any prohibition enforcement officer, judge or newsman can attest to its truth.
The story is built around experience of a family that the boaten trail of its sedateence to frequent a path that spell only utmost folly. Of more than usual interest to picture palrons is Manager Tom Ingram's announcement that "Her Love Story," starring Gloria Swanson, opens at the California Theater tomorrow. The story is based upon Mary Roberts Rinehart's novel, "Her Majesty, the Queen." The editor of the Comopolitan magazine, in which publication this story appeared, said of it: "Her Majesty the Queen" is the greatest dramatic story that has come into my hands in the past three years. It should make a good picture."
The story deals with royalty, with kings and queens. In this photoplay Gloria has the role of a beautiful Princess who is forced into an unhappy marriage with a king. She has already given her heart to a handsome young captain of the guards to whom she was secretly wed. Later when she gives birth to an heir and the king learns that he is not the child's father, he has her sent away. Her subsequent experienced and sufferings are sympathetically brought out and prove that royalty are real humans after all.
It is the kind of a part that suits Gloria to a "T." It offers wide opportunities for strong, dramatic acting and at the same time gives Gloria a chance to wear some of the most stunning gowns. Allan Dwan, who wielded the megaphone for several of Gloria's previous pictures, also directed this one. He has surrounded Miss Swanson with a super supporting cast which includes Ian Keith, George Pawcett, Mario Majeroni and other equally well-known. Incidentally it may be of interest to mention that there are several real dukes and earls and duchesses in the picture so that the court scenes are absolutely true-to-life. You'll make no mistake if you pay the California a visit when "Her Love Story" comes to town.
A Mack Sennett Comedy "Scarlem Much" in two reels of fun and frolic with girls, and whirls, mirth and merriment, an Aesop Fable and Kinograms are also on the program.
Final Times tonight William Farnum in "The Man Who Fights Alone" and Harry Langdon in "Flickering Youth."
SWISS ZITHER AND YODLERS COMING
Manager J. W. Anderson of the United Theater announces that he has secured for a special engagement, the Tyrolian Zither and Yodeling Club of Los Angeles consisting of nine people, to present their latest and newest number "A Night in the Alps." The music lovers of Anaheim will be given a rare treat on this occasion as some of the very best sither players are among the members of AT FAIRYLAND

The Balcolod Duo offer "A Musical Surprise," a very novel and an entertaining act that you will like.
A romantic, thrilling, though somewhat sombre tale is "The Shadow of the East," the photo-play which opens at the Fairyland Theater today.
It is about an English earl, Barry Craven, who, like many other Englishman exiled in India, had secretly taken a beautiful native wife, though he still felt the attraction of his own countrywomen.
Much has been written and said about these light loves of the East which men leave so easily, but when Lohare made with tempestuous love for the rather unreasonable Englishman, and with palousy for an English girl who was visiting India, finally commits suicide, Barry finds it not so easy to forget.
He returns to England—even married Gillian Locke—but still the Shadow of the East hangs over him and becomes a barrier between him and all the things he would hold dear.
Unflee to bear the torture of it he goes back at last to aid in a war-a young shiek is waging against his enemies. He leaves a note telling Gillian the dark secret of his past and his desire for atonement through death in a war. Gillian follows him to India and, regardless of her own danger, to the very field of battle.
So, in the end, it is her husband, whom she hoped to rescue, who rescues her. And then she finds that he no longer is in need of rescuing for in the thick of the battle, he has redeemed his soul and the Shadow of the East has at last lifted. Frank Mayo, Milfred Harris and Norman Kerry appear in the principal roles of this production.
A screamingly funny two reel comedy, "The Cyclist" with Clyde Cook in the leading role and Episode 7 of the 40th Door complete one of the best program that has been presented at the Fairyland

Texas Bob the hypnotic sensation of the West Coast, and proclaimed the greatest Mind-Reading physic now touring the country, will grace the stage of the California theater with his company of Mental Comics, for 2 days starting Tuesday.
Texas Bob makes some broad assertions as to his power and ability to control the mind of others. One of his many remarkable scientific tests which he will present during his stay in our city, is to hypnotize a young lady on the stage of the theater at the first performance Tuesday night. Immediately after the performance her body will be removed to the lobby of the California, where she will be on full display to the people of this community, while she will sleep peacefully under the hypnotic spell for a period of twenty-four hours, when she will be returned to be awakened on the stage at the next evening's performance, after her body has been put through a remarkable scientific demonstration. Texas Bob is commonly known as the man of a million laughs, and he has certainly lived up to that name through this part of the country.
