WOMAN PREACHES AT CHURCH HERE
The Sunday evening sermon at the Undenominational Church of the Lord, 511 No. Olive-st., was delivered by Miss Eleanor Heughan, assistant pastor, from Hebrews 2:1-3: "Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, least at any time we should let them alip. For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation?"
Miss Heughan pointed out that it is not merely the opposer and the blatant unbeliever who is going to come up short in that great day; it is also the man who neglects. "We don't have to commit some terrible crime to be lost; all we have to do is neglect full salvation—our justification, our cleaning, to receive the Holy Ghost at all, and those who neglect to retain Him after they receive Him. The Holy Ghost is given only to those who obey Him (Acts 5:22), therefore, tho we may receive Him, we cannot retain Him unless we are obedient. She emphasized the seriousness of breaking God's law, and pointed out that even in the Jewish dispensation, and the antidiluvian age, when the laymen could not receive the Holy Ghost as in this dispensation, that every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward. If they escape not, who had not the opportunities that we have, how much less shall we escape if we reject the words of the Son of God Himself? Men may say that the wrath of God will not come, that this eternal truth.

JONES TAKES LEAD
PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 22. With half of the field still to be heard from, Robert T. Jones, well known golfer, was in the van of the qualifying round of the national amateur golf championship today with a medal score of 144 for 56 holes. Robert simply played a pair of 72s beside each other and in consequence went out in front by four strokes. Willie Hunter, Los Angeles, former British champion, was in second place at this juncture with a total of 148 with Francis Oulmet third, one stroke to the rear. Among those still to be accounted for was D. Clark Corkran, who established a course record of 67 in the first half of the qualifying round on Saturday.

That is what they said about the destruction of Jerusalem, too, but when the gospel of Christ was rejected the city was razed to the ground just the same, and Zion plowed as a field by the Roman conquerors in full accordance with the word of God.
