Real Estate and Rentals Main Oil Company Plans Progressing The Main Oil Company, drilling its test well on Sec. 28-27-24 Kern County, is said to be making significant progress after having been forced to plug back and re-drill preparatory to closing off water at 3400 feet. Drilling with cable tools is necessarily slow, but with the elimination of mechanical difficulties and just reasonable luck in the future, Main Oil company may be expected to usher in a new oil field within a very short time. In addition to high pressure gate valves being installed prior to the plans for a production test being made the Main Oil Company purchased a Lorraine Gas Separator, as well as 2800 Leet of 21-1-2 inch tubing. It is needless to say these preparations really show the importance of drilling operations to date and further substantiate the belief that production will result from the completion of present development. The present known and producing oil fields of Kern county are conveniently situated upon the prominent outcrops, or along the rim of what authorities term the "old shore line." Mr. Robert Kelly, Orange County Manager for Leonarda & Co., who are fiscal agent for Main Oil Co., has just returned from a week-end visit to the property of the Main Oil Co., as guest of Mr. Leonards. In the party were Mrs. Robert Kelly and Mr. and Mrs. Ottie Peck of Olinda and Mrs. Emma Helde of Anaheim. The drilling was around 3400 feet with splendid oil and gas showings. It is probable preparations will be made to cement off within the next 3 or 4 days if the test SEEK 3RD MAN IN “HI-JACKING” TRIO SAN DIEGO, Aug. 29. Deputy sheriffs today combed San Diego co. for a man that to be the third member of an alleged “hi-jacking” trio, who are said to have made repeated raids on a ranch near National City where country officers yesterday uncovered one of the largest illicit booze making plants in this county and arrested C.F. Ward. Ward was later released on $1000 cash bail and then informed the officers of the actions of the “hi-jackers” and the arrest of two men followed. The officers withheld the names of the two men and said the present charge against them was “investigation.” The third hi-jacker was the object of their hunt today. THE RADIO K. F. DEFENSE DAY IS SET FOR SEPT. 12 (By Geo. W. Reid) Sept. 12th is Defense Day, this day having been designated such by the President of the United States. As loyal citizens of this country we should accept it. There is but one object in the observance of such a day, viz., that of instilling patriotism for ones country. If we, an American citizen, will but consider how many are observing lightly the laws of the city, county, state and nation, it would seem that something should be done that would instill in us obedience to these laws. Obedience to the flag certainly comes from love of ones city, state or nation. What is Anaheim doing to instill into the rising generation love for home and country? True our schools are doing whatever they can along this line. The oath of allegiance is being rehearsed in many lodges. Still there is a lack of real conformity to law. Our schools can do much in this work. The young mind, no susceptible to impressions lasting, always because of youth, would not forget the teachings of loyalty to their country. Teachers permitted the responsibility of teaching patriotism to your children, certainly must be a patriot themselves first. In this we are glad to note that seldom do we find any teacher not thoroughly imbued with love of country. In this Defense Day celebration it is proper that the children should bear an important part. Boy Scouts should be pressed into this line of action. They should be made to feel that the responsibility of a great country will be MR. ROBERT KELLY, ORANGE COUNTY MANAGER FOR LEONARDS & CO., WHO ARE FISCAL AGENT FOR MAIN OIL CO., HAS JUST RETURNED FROM A WEEK-END VISIT TO THE PROPERTY OF THE MAIN OIL CO. AS GUEST OF MR. LEONARDS. IN THE PARTY WERE MR. ROBERT KELLY AND MR. AND MRS. OTTA Peck OF OLINDA AND MRS. EMINA HEIDE OF ANAHEMIN. THE DRILLING WAS AROUND 3400 FEET WITH SPLENDID OIL AND GAS SHOWINGS. IT IS PROBABLE PREPARATIONS WILL BE MADE TO CEMENT OFF WITHIN THE NEXT 3 OR 4 DAYS AND IF THE TEST IS O.K. FOR WATER LAST HOLE SHould BE MADE TO AROUND 4000 FEET WHERE PRODUCTION IS EXPECTED.
