Munger The Marine Oil Corporation a concern that has made itself famous with its deep sand development and the owing in of big wells has added another accomplishment of note and has made the closing days of Long Bison Field development seem with interest. The Marine's No. 17 completed at 5050 came in at 3800 barrels, 29 gravity. This well is the biggest thing in the way of production at Long Beach and the gravity of the well is as good as the best. Just recently the Marine made a consolidation of a number of small companies in the beach field and these interests coupled with its own spectacular success makes the corporation one of the most successful developing companies on Signal Hill. The San Martinez Oil Co. is another little concern that is making oil history for Long Beach. The San Martinez Oil Co. started three years ago on the southeast slope of the hill in a quiet way and began developing. The Martinez holding were not considred with a lot of favor but time has told and now the locality is producing some great wells. San Martinez's Green No. 2 completed at 4750 is a 2500 barrel well. It appears that the San Martinez has a lot of good future production. As an illustration of the fact that all is not well in an oil well the Pan-American Petroleum Co. drilled a well on the Anderson Lake near American ave to a depth of 60 feet expecting to open up something good in the way of deep production and got a 22 barrel pumper. Torrance is making a desperate effort to stage a comeback by way of deep sand route. The hope on the field lies in the outcome of the Shell Oil's Retrieve No. 2. The Retrieve well has passed the 4400 mark and is really locking quail outcurrring. The sand shale at 4400 shows oil and there is reason to believe that a little more hole PARTY TRIES TO SAVE SHIP'S CREW SEATTLE, Aug. 27.-The organizing of a party to accomplish the rescue of Capt. Gua Foellmer and 22 men in distress on the wrecked schooner, Lady Kindersley, 50 miles off Point Barrow, are under way. If a proposition submitted to Canadian governmental authorities here yesterday are accepted the owners of the schooner Ruby, famous Arctic trader and proven mistress of the northern ice floes, will outfit and proceed to the Siberian coast in an effort to reach the sufferers before it is too late. The men on board the Lady Kindersley have been hemmed in by fields of ice for nearly a fortnight. They had gone into the dangerous area hunting and fishing. The revenue cutter Bear endeavored to reach them from Home, but damage to her propeller and hull caused her to turn back. Captain Foellmer and his men are in danger of freezing or starving to death unless relief reaches them quickly. a little production and keep development work moving. Two years ago the Marland came into the California filed and he was looking around for properties, took leases at Anaheim, Dominguez Keen and Venture co., One actual drilling was started by the company at Dominguez and on this property Well No. 4 was put on production test at 4380 feet and started at 2080. The Shell Co. got a nice well at Dominguez in the completion of Reyes No. 9 at 2000 barrels. Reyes 9 was completed at 4180 and is making a 21 gravity product. Childs No. 1 the Shell's most easily producer of the Dominguez field has settled down to 2000 barrels clean oil. The Superior Oil Co. is nearing the 4200 foot mark on the Carpenter well, has not found anything and is seriously considering the abandonment of the well. The Birch Oil Co.'s keeping up its faith and courage in the Humphries well and is now at 4450 feet, drilling. The well is not showing anything and if it ever does it will create a surprise. The most important wildest well now drilling in So Cal. The Sentinel Oil Co.'s Brown No. 1 in the extreme northwest section of the Athens-Rosecrans field has passed the 410 mark and contrary to the rumors about the wolf is showing some encouragement. The figures show that the Los Angeles police department is credited with more arrests per capita of population than any other metropolitan city in the drive against felonious crimes. The average age of these arrested is given as 27 years, the criminal element predominating in youth between the ages of 18 and 25, the report showed. Construction of a new police headquarters building which will harmonize with the character and importance of the city, and immediate establishment of a jail city and county industrial farm for prisoners, were outstanding recommendations made in the report. TUNA FISHING OPENS WITH RUSH LOS ANGELES—More than 600 boats are working on the fishing bank off this port, following the opening of the tuna season. The opening of the season shows a good market for the fish, celebrated as "the chicken of the goat" and canneries are offering as high as $1,200 per ton for the best variety of tuna. Practically all of the daily catch is brought in through this harbor where: ten canneries are at work. Three big canneries at Long Beach harbor also receive a large quantity of fish and five canneries are opening at San Diego. Riverside-co gave the San Jacinto man a large lead, probably 4000. Imperial also contributed 122, Kline receiving 563 to 741 for Talbert. This indicates a lead of 600 for Kline. All 42 precincts in the city of Riverside gave Kline 2597 to 522 for Talbert. The 72 precincts in Riverside-co outside the city will assume its lean it was claimed at the courthouse this afternoon. Riverside city gave Swing 2559 and Sample 823 for congress. In Swing's home county of Imperial he received a five to one lead. At 3 this afternoon the River-side-co clerk's office reported the following results in 92 out of 115 precincts of the county: Kline, 4016; Talbert, 1114; Sample, 1294; Swing, 4254. At the regular weekly meeting of Publicion Rotary club today, George Reid, secretary of Amheim C., of Org. gave an address on boys and the care they should receive up to 15 years of age. There was also talk by a representative of the California Dresser, Beaf Co. A committee was present from Colorado. Flaherty will succeed Mrs. Mae Nolan from the fifth district. In other congressional districts opposition was only nominal. In the 40 senatorial and 80 assembly districts returns were too scattering early today to determine whether control of the legislature has passed from administration to anti-administration hands. Anti-administration forces won a sweeping victory in San Francisco. Three incumbent senators, Godall, Burnett and McDonald, were defeated and in 12 of the 13 assembly districts anti-administration incumbents or aspirants won. The anti-administration forces claimed substantial gains throut the state but administration forces declared their losses were being offset by gains in other sections. In the balloting for legislative candidates it was concealed the administration forces had secured a victory in Los Angeles county, naming three of the five senators and nine of the assemblymen. Three anti-administration candidates for the assembly were chosen and three others are in doubt, being claimed as both administration and anti-administration men. EKA!
