McCOY TO ENTER NOT GUILTY PLEA
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 26.—"Kid" McCoy will plead not guilty when he is brot into court Thursday charged with the murder of Mrs. Teresa More. That was definitely established today by announcement of McCoy's attorneys.
The former ruglist was back in his cell at the county jail here today depressed and sobbing at times following what may be his last visit to his aged mother, Mrs. Mary Selby.
Surrounded by deputy sheriffs, McCoy was taken to the home of his mother, who is dying.
"I didn't do it," were the words he gave in greeting to Mrs. Selby.
The "kid" wept at the bedside of his mother, as she attacked his head and told him she had supreme faith in her son.
Funds for the McCoy defense are coming in slowly. Appeals sent over the country by James J. Jeffries, former world heavyweight champion, have met with small response and McCoy now faces a "penniless" defense.
DAYLIGHT SAVING PLAN ABANDONED
The daylight saving plan will be abandoned Sept. 1, according to notice given to the various city departments by J. W. Price, city manager, today. Mr. Price explained that this plan had been adopted last June by the city in order to assist in conserving electric energy, but that there had been no cooperation from the outside, and that it had resulted in much confusion. Therefore, Mr. Price thought it a good thing to abandon such a plan, and go back to the original time. Beginning Sept. 1, the city offices will open at 8 a.m., and close at 5 p.m., it is said.
