ELIMATE SUPERIOR HERE FOR MOVIES
Anaheim's "moving picture" climate is superior to Hollywood! This extraordinary statement, made by an official of a movie company which is investigating the issue of locating here, was retested today by Pren Roscoe B. Young of the Lions club at today's luncheon meeting in the club.
By inference, Anaheim with the mountains, sea, and groves near it, also has advantages over the center of moviestown. Young has given to understand.
The kinema concert has been unfolding with the industrial committee of the Anaheim C. of C., which Young is a member.
Young had been asked by President Cliff Lamb to discuss the industrial situation. He did so in remarkably clear manner, explaining how a given section finally reached the point where with increasing population it could no longer support the people of its cities without industries. This applied to So. Calif., where new people who depended on support upon their own labor were flocking any of these were compelled to return home because the work was not available for them.
Young declared that he would welcome an industry to any part of the county, but particularly of course to Anaheim.
The new McBride Glass Co.'s factory will be in operation Nov. 15, the payroll, even the only $1,099 per week, would mean much for local business.
Young allied to keep their open for new industrial opportunities. Land here, he asserted, was far cheaper than in Los Angeles and the climate preferable.
Anaheim was not trying to get any of the metropolitan industries way, but it was known that some of the latter wished to move to outlying towns.
Another important matter that came up at today's gathering was that of the proposed public playground.
COMMITTEE WILL ARRANGE DISPLAY
Hugh Miller of Fullerton, Howard Williams of Orange, Frank Pope of Santa Ana and Harry Sidney of Anaheim, president of the local board and of the Associated Reality Boards of Orange County, were appointed a committee last night at a gathering in Santa Anza to discuss the type of headquarters and display for the county to be opened during the State Real Estate convention at Pasadena next fall.
Oranges placed in each room of the Hotel Huntington during the big meeting, Oct. 8-11, appeared to be the plan most favored, said Sidney today. No method has been selected as yet, however. The Santa Ana meeting was one of the board officers, and another meeting of the sort will be held on call of Sidney. The publicity given the county in the national and state real estate magazines by reason of the county's participation is a feature stressed by Sidney.
ROBINSON WINS WESTERN JUNIOR DEERFIELD, Ill., Aug. 15. After trailing a good part of the distance, George Robinson of Southmoor won the western junior golf championship at Briargate today by defeating Donald Carriek of Toronto, 2 and 2.
Robinson was behind for 17 holes this morning but squared the match on the home green and then the two boys alternated winning holes.
On the 26th Robinson started his victorious streak and won three straight holes and maintained his advantage until the 34th green, where the match ended.
GOVERNOR SITS IN JUDGMENT
MONTEREY, Aug. 15. The pendulum of time was reversed here today and Gov. F. W. Richardson, standing in the stead of a long line of distinguished old Spanish gentlemen who were once governors of this state, held forth at Colton Hall, built by the Rev. Dr. Walter N. Colton. First American official in the state and which building was the first capitol of California an dthe scene of the constitutional convention which followed admission to the union.
Garbled in a Spanish costume to the days of old, Governor Richardson mounted the dals in the famous old court in Colton Hall and there passed judgement on various and sundry local celebrities who had refused to abide by the proclamation of Mayor Benjamin F. Wright, calling on all citizens of this city to wear moustaches, sideburns and imperious during the interim leading up to the observance of the Serra Pilier image, in honor of Fr. Junipero Berre, father of the California missions, to be held this fall.
Gathered about the governor were many leading citizens of Monterey, all in Spanish costumes. Police Judge Rosa C. Sargent himself descendant of one of the finest of the old Spanish landlords, surrendered his seat of justice and authority to gubernational hands.
Others in the party were: Mary Woods, artist; Jo Mora, famous sculptor; Percy Gray, artist; Perry Newberry, well known author and former mayor of Carmel; Mayor B. F. Wright; Police Commissioner

THINK SLAIN GIRL OF HERRICK, S. D.
DAVENPORT, Ia., Aug. 15—The body of the 18-year-old girl found several days ago under a bridge near Bedford, Ia., is believed to have been identified late today as Miss Lillian McKinney of Herrick, S. D.
Identification was made by long distance telephone conversations with the girl's father, who said there was no doubt that the body was that of his daughter.
State agents now believe that Carl Haugh of Herrick was the driver of the car from which Miss McKinney was thrown. Haugh is a former convict.
