The first model is in a combination of plain and check gingham, or is it plain and check dimity? It may even be crepe in contrasting designs. Bloomers accompany the dress, which has kimono sleeves, and calls for 1 yard of plaia and ¼ yard of check material 40 inches wide. Volle, with dots embroidered in bright-colored silks, makes the second model. The hem may be put in with hemstitching or veining. Bows of ribbon on either shoulder give this proper air of sophistication. Buttonhole scallops finish the short sleeves. One and one-half yard of 36-inch material is sufficient for this model. Plain Jane at the extreme right has some trimmings, for her gingham frock is attached to a square yoke, while the gathered pockets and armholes are hemmed with bands of self-material. This model is attractive in any fabric. Medium size requires 1½ yard 36-inch gingham. First Model: Pictorial Review Child's Dress No. 2138. Sizes, 2 to 5 years. Price, 25 cents. Second Model: Dress No. 2162. Sizes, 1 to 5 years. Price, 25 cents. Third Model: Dress No. 2135. Sizes, 1 to 4 years. Price, 25 cents. SCARFS TO MATCH IN BETTER TASTE NEW YORK, Aug. 6. — Just now summer styles are well on their way. Everybody knows what is being worn as far as frocks and hats go. It is the new accessories which renew last month’s costume and give it a last minute appearance. Too much stress cannot be laid on the value of costume accessories. Many women feel that when they have purchased a frock, a hat, and matching shoes and hosiery that they have a completed outfit. But this is far from true nowadays. The costume has to have some highlight—some odd little accessory which catches the eye. This season there are many such accessories. In the first place the scarf is of utmost importance. No well-known brands of goods will be handled by Sebastian Bros. when the firm moves into its new quarters in the Odd Fellows building on or about Sept. 1, according to J. P. Sebastian. The policy of maintaining non-expensive lines will be continued, as before, but absolutely nothing will be on the concern’s shelves that the firm itself as well as the manufacturers cannot stand back of, no matter at what price the particular article is sold. The policy of the firm is to handle hose, for example, that the makers will not merely make an adjustment on, but replace entirely without question. Dress goods and ready-to-wear lines will be in more varied assortment than ever before. Already Sebastian Bros. have purchased or ordered all the goods Sale AND FURNISHINGS AND SATURDAY 79c 4 and 5—1st SEC. ORE ANAHEIM, CALIF. In the first place the scarf is of utmost importance. No well-dressed woman appears on the street in a summer frock that is cut low at the neck and is sleeveless without some sort of a neckpiece to distinguish her costume from the dinner frock. Since street frocks and dinner frocks are of like cut and fabrics this year one must wear some sort of a scarf if one does not wish to appear too sleeveless and low-necked on the street. The gayly colored scarf has been much overdone. Better dressed women are no longer wearing them as they prefer scarfs of the same fabric as the frock or plain colored scarfs which carry out the main color of the frock. A scarf and frock idea which carries out the summer vogue is illustrated in a canary yellow georgette dress of one-piece lines with a matching scarf attached at the back of the neck. The dress is made without a belt but tiny tucks at the side waist-line tend to suggest a figure. There are no sleeves with this frock and the neck is rounding in front and cut straight across the back where a straight piece of goods is attached to form a scarf. The end of this scarf are finished with wide yellow silk fringe. A wide-brimmed leg-horn hat has a binding of yellow velvet about the brim and its crown is made entirely of yellow velvet. While this outfit seems a bit dressy for street-wear it is a type that may be found any warm day on Fifth ave. Announcing Tonight Sebastian's Removal Sale!
