Phone 2390 44 NEW OIL WELLS The "Summary of Operations—California Oil Fields" for March, 1924, the ninth monthly chapter of the Ninth Annual Report of the State Oil and Gas Supervisor, is now being distributed. The "Summary" contains an article on "Method of Determining the Fluid Content of Formation in Open Hole at Huntington Beach Oil Field," by V.H.Wilhelm, deputy supervisor. Oil field operations reported for the week ending July 19 show 44 new wells started, compared with 24 previous week; 18 were in Torrance, 2 in Long Beach, 3 in Dominguez, 4 in Los Angeles co., 1 in Santa Fe Springs, 16 in Kernco, 2 in Tulare co., and 1 in Kingsco. The total new wells this year is 881, compared with 834 at same date last year. Tests for water shut-off 21, compared with 26 previous week. Yearly total to date 959; total to same date last year 1117. Deepening or redrilling jobs 20, compared with 12 preceding week. Total to date 443; total to same date last year 378. LA HABRA NEWS LA HABRA, July 25.—(Spl.) Harold Sharbless, groom elector July, was honored at a november shower and supper on Thursday evening. Uncles and cousins of the prospective groom were invited to a stag supper and shower at the Homer Sharbless, whore a card supper and weiner bake was enjoyed on the lawn surrounding the home. A jolly time followed around the camp fire, before the surprised honor guest was taken on a trip, analogous to his posed wedding trip in a wheelbarrow. Later he was taken to lake" and requested to fish for the hidden packages. As each "fish" was caught it was "cleaned" before another try was made and Mr. Sharbless found himself the recipient of many useful gifts for the new home. Mr. and Mrs. Chris Schneider entertained with a dinner party at Habra Heights Sunday evening honor of a friend, Mrs.E.C.Hocko who is visiting relatives in Habra Spring blossoms were used to decorate the home. The afternoon was spent in visiting amusic, after which a delicious dinner was served at 5 o'clock.
