CARMENITA WELL DOWN 5400 FEET Reports came from Cypress today that the Carmenita well, three miles north and half a mile west, which now is down 5400 feet, would be drilled to 6,000 or 7,000 feet to make a thoro test. The Petroleum Midway Co. is drilling it and approximately 1,200 acres which it is said to have under lease would be proved up if a well was brot in. This well has had alight showings of gas and oil. It is believed to be on the north edge of a field extending thru and to the north of Cypress. The structure, however, is said to be a syndicate compared with the anticline on which the Gaddle well was drilled. It is said that 800 feet of Richfield Minestone was encountered. Reports, which as usual cannot be confirmed owing to the fact that nobody connected with the Gaddle well ever talks, were current in Cypress today that this well would be drilled deeper, also because the 2,630 feet reached was not regarded as deep enough for a thoro test.
