NO FURTHER CUT IN POWER QUOTA
"In our best judgment and barring unforeseen contingencies there will be no necessity for a general curtailment of more than 25 per cent."
This word, received by W. L. Deimling, district manager at Santa Ana of the So. Calif. Edison Co., from H. G. Butler, state power supervisor, means, according to Deimling, that Orange-co will not have the amount of power apportioned to it cut again, according to present indications.
Deimling announced further that this month two units of 5,000 horsepower each would be completed at the Long Beach steam plant, and that two other units of 50,000 h.p. each were to be added, making approximately 185,000 h.p. total capacity.
The recent accidents at the Long Beach and Redondo plants will not affect the power situation to any extent, although 200 acre feet of water, four days' supply, were lost by the Long Beach blaze. This equals the excess required at peak load for four days over and above normal supply.
The question of whether the Edison company will release Anaheim from its contract is one for the legal department, Deimling declared. So far as the company's attitude toward the proposed Anaheim-Fullerton power plant is concerned, Deimling asserted that it would be money thrown away, because of the forthcoming Boulder dam power development and because the present shortage of the company was only temporary.
The power situation in the county is more favorable now, although, because of unusual irrigation demands Orange-co is not conserving as well as certain other counties. The peak of irrigation of walnut groves comes in NEW TODAY

He says they are due to confused ideas and a defect in teaching methods which must be paid for later in confused ideas and muddled practices in business and government.

BABY LIVES WITH EXTRA HEAD OFF
SUMTEM, S. C., July 18.—Only three weeks old, a negro baby was in a local hospital "getting along fine" today after having one of his heads removed.
When born the child had two heads; one natural and another at the base of his spinal column.
After examining the child physicians carried him to the hospital, where his extra head was removed.
They considered the operation near miraculous in view of the fact that the child is recovering.
It was normal in every other way, the doctors said, and promises to develop into a healthy youngster. The extra head was fully developed.

DIST. ATTY. KEYES TO QUIZ HOWARD
LOS ANGELES, July 18.—Dist. Atty, Ags Keyes said today he would immediately call to his office for questioning John C. Howard, son of an eastern salad millionaire and husband of Ora Carew, person and stage star, after which he would decide whether to grant Miss Carew's request that Howard be placed under a peace bond.
Howard, according to police, struck with his fists Alexander Pantages, theatre magnate, and Ben F. Rosenberg, of the Metro-Film Exchange, when he met Miss Carew and her sister, Evelyn, at 2 a.m. in company of the two theatrical men.
Miss Carew appeared before the district attorney last night and asked that her husband, who she is suing for divorce, be put under bond to keep the peace.
Pantages has not sworn to a complaint against Howard and Howard has not as yet, as he threatened, filed a suit against Pantages for alienation of his wife's affections and a cross complaint for divorce.

The successful bidder shall, within ten days after the contract is awarded to keep firm with the Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim, a bond for an amount which shall not be less than fifty per cent of the aggregate amount of the contract price, for the furnishing and delivery of said cast iron water pipe, payable to the City of Anaheim and signed by the bidder, and at least two sureties who shall justify before any officer competent to administer an oath in double the said amount, over and above all statutory exemptions, or by a corporate surety, as provided by law, said check or bond to become forfeited to the City of Anaheim in the event that the successful bidder shall fail to enter into a contract for the furnishing and delivery of said cast iron water pipe and furnishing the bond required within ten (10) days after the contract is awarded to him.
