WATCHMAN SHOT CHICAGO, July 1.—Joseph Carney, 61, watchman at the town residence of Mrs. Edith Rockefeller McCormick, died in a hospital today from a bullet wound inflicted in a mysterious shooting at the McCormick home, according to authorities. The police made no report of the shooting public until today when Carney died. They received a report yesterday morning.
