ARTISTS TUBBY Try This on Your TURING WORLD
With a bottle of ink and a barrel of syrup starry Cunning and Herbert Winners of Santa Clara, youths still in their terms, are hosting their war around the world. Most of their expenses they hope to pay by cartoon work. Both have done considerable work on the San Jose Mercury-Herald and other papers.
Cunning displays a scrapbook half full already of cartoons, ephemera, photos of movie stars, etc. They spent three or four days in Hollywood.
Cunning started a month ago and worked southward to Ensenada. Winter began the trip a week ago, meeting his chum at Long Beach.
Much of the work they do is for the luncheon clubs. Recently Cunning entertained the San Diego Kiwanlans. At the outset they appeared before the Order of DeMolay at San Jose. They also do commercial cartoons. At Long Beach they turned out a quantity of work for the Virginia Country club.
They will go from here to New Orleans, there taking one of the Dollar Line steamers to South America.

"LITTLE FURTHER DECLINE IN AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS ANTICIPATED," SAYS ILLINOIS BANKER
"Expressing the belief that there will be little if any further decline in agricultural products, President Melvin A. Taylor of the Illinois Bankers' Ass'n recently discussed the general economic conditions of the U.S.
"Our most pressing problems are those of agriculture, labor, taxation, extravagance and legislation," he said. "The chief trouble in agriculture is production in excess of consumptive demand. There will be increasing diversification, more businesslike methods and less political claptrap in the shape of legislative nostrums."
"The American manufacturer has had little competition in the markets of the world. When the European enterprise resume activity they will produce cheaper and sell at prices far below the present level of American markets. Then the American manufacturer must adjust cost and selling price, but this cannot be done until a reduction in the cost of labor is made.
"This may not be anticipated without a bitter struggle, and the next battle for legislative protection is more likely to be from organized labor than from the farmer.
"If, the liquidation that comes, the cost of living is reduced, as it will be, labor will not materially suffer. But when this crisis comes labor will have a choice of meeting the situation with fairness and equity or paralyzing industry and causing idleness and privation.
"Whenever industrial liquidation comes about, the farmer will continue to sell at perhaps near present levels and will buy in a market as thoroughly liquidated as that in which he sells.
"Higher prices are not necessary to agricultural prosperity, but there should and will be speedy adjustment of the purchasing power to the level of the buying Bastady, Helen Page, Dee Callaway, Dick Davis, Ted Payton, Loyd Seabridge and the chaperons Mr. and Mrs. Geo.
