LA HABRA, June 25. (Spl.)—The home of Mrs. Rose Wilson of North Friends-ave Whittier, was the scene of an interesting pre-nuptial shower Friday afternoon, when Mrs. Wilson's daughter, Mrs. Bruce Harden of Norwalk, entertained for Miss Leora Espolt of La Habra, July bride-elect.
House decorations used were purple iris and yellow daisies. The dainty collation served at a late hour, also carried out the color scheme.
Much of the afternoon was spent in music and making holders for Miss Espolt's new home. Brides and grooms were also properly dressed in tissue paper, and as a reward for the effort in this contest, Miss Espolt was awarded the prize which gave her the privilege to follow the ribbons which led her to the basket filled with daltry gifts for her new home.
Miss Espolt will be married to Rolla Walling of La Habra in July.
Guests from La Habra who attended this affair were Miss Florence Sucksdorf, Lena Thompson and Miss Bertha Sucksdorf.
Mrs. Lair of Garden Grove was the speaker before the ladies of the Missionary society at their regular meeting in the parlor of the Temple Baptist church Friday.
Mrs. Perry McClaim was a guest of Mrs. Jennie Maddock and Miss Amanda Richardson at the home of Mrs. Maddock Sunday.
The Dorcas society of the Temple Baptist church will give a hard time party in the basement of the church Friday evening.
Mrs. D. E. Fletcher entertained the Friday afternoon club at her home Friday. Baskets of carnation in pink and white were used to decorate the home. The afternoon was spent in needlework and chatting, after which a dainty tray collation was served. Members present were, Mimes. John Smith, E. Roberts, C. W. Rawley, J. E. Stogsdale, S. Wardrip, Ed Davis, Clifford Davis and the hostess Mrs. Fletcher.
Mr. and Mrs. Francis Walker spent the week end at Redondo

Mrs. Everitt Thompson entertained with a surprise birthday party for her husband Saturday evening, at the home of Mrs. Jennie Maddock. The evening was spent in visiting and music, after which a dainty collation was served by the hostess who was assisted by Mrs. Maddock. Guests invited to this affair were: Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Varney, Mr. and Mrs. William Stanford of Fullerton, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Sharp, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Cookerly, Miss Mildred Holstein of Cruther; Miss Amanda Richardson, Clarence Hysel and Mrs. Haddock.
Miss Reba Riley and William Cunningham of Pomona were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Ritch at their home on South Cypress-st Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. V. O. Walker and daughter, Helen, of Long Beach, spent the week end with relatives in La Habra.
Mrs. Roy Barker and daughters, Madaline and Katherine, accompanied by Mrs. Thomas Oliver, spent a few days last week at the Barker cabin at Forest Home. Mr. Barker spent the week end at the cabin.
Miss Winifred Agee of Los Angeles is a guest of Mrs. Soule at the P. J. Weisel home.
Mrs. R. H. Hilbert and sons, Rodney and Jack spent the week

Mr. and Mrs. John Leutwiler and daughter, Stella, and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Davies and son of Huntington Beach, returned Saturday from Big Bear Lake where they spent the week at the Grant Sherman Cabin.
Mr. and Mrs. Otto Gardner and Mr. and Mrs. George Smith were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Scott Sunday.
Ivan Barnett spent the week end at Big Bear fishing.
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Beck spent a few days last week at Beaumont, where they have an apart-cot orchard.
W.F.Espolt started work on a five room modern house located on Rose-st, Thursday.
The modern parent promises his son an auto if he doesn't smoke or drink until he is 12 years old.-Edwardsville Intelligence.
