SANTA FE LEASE, June 17.—(Spl.)—Mr. W. L. Schryer attended the Mason's meeting at Yorba Linda Thursday evening.
Miss Frances Greminger has just returned from a few days' visit at the Meranda home at Hermosa Beach. Miss Genevieve Meranda of Hermosa Beach returned with Miss Greminger for a few days on this lease.
A party was enjoyed at the Schryer home on the Santa Fe Lease in honor of Miss Olive Schryer's fourteenth birthday. The guests included Myrtle Cowanfo Anaheim, Genevieve Meranda of Hermosa Beach, Clyde Fairlawn of Olive, Stanley Annin of the Olinda Lease, Helen Quinn of the Union Lease, Ray Boman and Vera Studebaker of the West Coast Lease, Boby Jones, Alfred Roberts, Hazel Carnine, Frances Gremingo, Jesse Weicke and the hostess and her parents all of this lease. Refreshments, consisting of jello, ice cream pie and the birthday cake were served and games were played. She received many useful gifts.
Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Tidland and sons Jack and Wilfred who have lived heir about six years on this lease and well known and liked moved to Gardena, nearer Mr. Tidlands work. Friday. The house they vacated will be occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Carnine and family.

LA HABRA. June 17. (Spl.) George Deshler, wife of theiring pastor of the Friends Church, was the victim of a surprise shower held at the Sunday pool bungalow. Mrs. Bert Howe, Robert Sullivan and Mrs. E. Ware were joint hostesses at delightful affair, in which out 50 ladies participated. The room was tastefully decorated with cut flowers and green. The fore part of the afternoon was spent in various interning ways. One amusing feature was the reading of an imaginary story of the prospective trip Denair, Rev. Deshler's new passtate, each guest having contributed a sentence without knowledge proper time Mrs. Howe, disdessed as a negro mammy, entered the room loaded down with cocla addressed to Mrs. George Deshler, which she claimed to have found along the road. Story of prospective trip to Redondo Beach for the last week for Arkansas. The trip will be made by auto. The Dorcas society of the Temple Baptist church entertained with a surprise shower at the church Thursday evening in honor of Mrs. A. C. Early, wife of Rev. Early. The evening was spent games and music. Mrs. Early received many dainty and useful items. Forty were present to enjoy this affair. Refreshments were served late in the evening. Mrs. T. D. SANTA FE LEASE, June 17.—(pl.)—A party from this lease enjoyed a chicken dinner at Long Beach Sunday. The party included Mr. W. L. Schryer and Mrs. H. L. Schryer and daughter Olive, Lee Andrews and Mrs. J. L. Hunker. They were accompanied by Miss Lois Russell of the West Coast Lease and Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Andrews, and daughter Shirley of Long Beach. They later enjoyed supper in the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Schryer of this lease.
Mr. Robert Jones, who has been for some time, has decided to send a short vacation at La Vida Springs, thinking it might do him good.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Elder had as guest Sunday their children, Mr. Mrs. Whitigan of Whittier, enter a delightful dinner they enjoyed the afternoon at La Vida Springs.
Mr. and Mrs. Weick and children Jessie, Mary, Mable and James sent the week end at San Bernardino with Mr. Weicks parents. Jessie did not return but remained with her aunt in San Bernardino for a few weeks.
Mrs. F. Gremlinger entertained her niece Ala Hack and friend Jessie Blackburn, both of Gardena Sunday.
Mr. Sanders of Redondo spent the week end on this lease with a wife and children.
