BLUEBIRD DEMAND MOUNTING IN SOUTH
If one-half of the people who have said that they have definitely decided on one, equally would go through with their purchases, there will be so many Overland Blue Birds in Southern California, in the next month or two that the boulevard will look like an exclusive Blue Bird parade, according to word from dealers all over the territory who simultaneously staged Blue Bird debuts last week.
With summer weather prevailing, the quarantine practically a thing of the past, and all the pent up urge for outdoor travel expressing itself all at once, the light, inexpensive, good-looking sport car is the favorite, the dealers say.
The Overland Blue Bird designed especially to meet just that sort of demand arrived just at this psychological moment. And as it is the newest model of its kind to be presented, it is attracting an exceptional volume of attention, according to the dealers check of visitors to Willys-Knight show rooms, last week.
The new Overland Blue Bird is equipped with full balloon tire and disc wheels. It is said to be the lowest priced car on the market carrying balloon tires as standard equipment.
Those who have seen the car say that it is the most striking design yet evolved by the Willys-Overland engineers.
A new standard riding quality reached by coupling the patented triplex spring suspension with balloon tires the dealers say.
The power plant is identical with that which for several months past has been showing its stamina and power in the most difficult road and mountain tests all over the country.
"A ride in the Blue Bird will surprise you" is a slogan used by the local dealers.

"Read the advertisements about garages. Pick the garage that houses your interest, and see if they can still hold your interest."
This is some of the advice handed out to strangers who want to get good work done and don't know which place to patronize by E Vrooman of the Commercial Garage, at Olive and East Center streets.
Vrooman is constantly picking up new ideas with which to improve the service he gives patrons. He specializes on Overland, Willys-Knight and Jordan cars, but does general repair work.
NOTICE. INDIANANS!
All former residents of Indiana now living in Orange-co, Calif., will hold the annual picnic Thursday June 26 in Orange-co park.
Climbing sand dunes for pleasure when the mercury hovers around the 137-degree mark in the sun may sound far-fetched, but nevertheless that was the favorite sport of the Franklin party that invaded Death Valley recently.
As the picture shows the Franklin Camel II, air-cooled scout car, picked out some steep ones, but with the assistance of Goodyear balloon tires even 25-foot high dunes were conquered with comparative ease. However, anyone who anticipates that balloon tires alone will enable him to gallop all over the sand dunes in Mesquite Flat, Death Valley, is quite likely due for a shock when he tries it for it is a matter of record that only three cars have ever crossed the six-mile stretch of dunes from Stovepipe Well west—and all of the three were Franklins.
"The famous old Franklin Camel I, first of the line, conquered the shifting dunes from east to west in December, 1921."
OPEN SCHOOL FOR AUTO SALESMEN
The Willys-Overland factory has felt the necessity of having men in their organization in the capacity of salesmen, capable of going out to the public, prepared for any emergency.
They feel that the day has come when a salesman goes out to sell a car that he must know thoroughly the product he is selling and be able to answer any question that the prospective buyer may chance to ask.
To gain this point the Willys-Overland Factory, has sent a factory engineer to Los Angeles to train new men to sell the Willys-Overland products.
For the past week this course has been given to Willys-Overland dealers and sales managers. W. R. Schanhals, local dealer has attended.
Schanhals states that this training is the best that he has ever had the opportunity to attend. Because it deals directly with problems that confronts the automobile dealer and salesmen, of this particular community.
Starting Monday evening, the salesmen's school opens, for the purpose of training new automobile salesmen, as well as refreshing and helping some of the old salesmen.
This course is absolutely free, and is open to any one that wishes to attend.
To those who attend and pass the examinations, will be given a chance to sell Willys-Knight and Overland cars if they wish to do so.
Get in touch with W. R. Schanhals, local Willys-Knight and Overland dealers by Monday evening if you wish to take up this course of instruction.

Your Car
Don't bark at the old bus. It isn't the car's fault They don't last forever, you know.
No self respecting owner of a classy car would think of starting out in his office in the morning without inspecting his shoes, hat and in fact his whole wardrobe Why neglect his car?
It is wise to carry along an extra gallon of oil on a trip these hot days. Often the unexpected happens. Springs also should be examined for broken leaves before taking a trip of any distance. Keep the front wheels in mind and remember they need to have grease and also to be properly adjusted. Otherwise you can ruin your front tires in a lift.
Keep your tools, including jack and pump, where they can be easily reached. Most motorists pack everything on top of their tools and then have to dig and dig in case of trouble with a tire or part.
Tires should carry less pressure in warm weather than in the cooler months.

The equipment of the Camp has been enlarged so that a larger capacity can be taken care of this year than ever before, and in order to make it possible for San Bernardino County Boys to have advantage of Camping this summer, arrangements have been made to have San Bernardino join with Orange County at the Camp. The San Bernardino County Council has selected a site near by which they will have the boys work on at intervals during the summer, so as to be fully prepared for next year's Camp. This will make three large Boy's Camps within a very short distance of each other. The Orange County Y. M. C. A. is located Just a short distance from Camp RoKill.
All Scouts expecting to go on the first period are urged to get their applications in immediately.
115,000 SIGNS NOW ON ROADS
(Continued From Page One) come to Southern California to view the scenic beauties and for recreation.
The perfection of the system was aided by having one strong organization in charge of the work, enabling it to be standardized and kept up by experienced engineers constantly on the job.
Although the investment reaches a large figure, more than $84,000 last year, the auto club bears the burden alone and does not call upon the state, counties or cities for financial aid. It is expected that the new signs, renewals and maintenance this year will cost $120,000, but it has been stated repeatedly that if the auto club had performed no other service than this, it would have simply justified its existence.
