MARKET TAKES IN OWNERS' CARS, TOO
The new management of Darry L. Turton, the Certified Motor Car Market will no longer confine itself mainly to dealers cars necessarily, but will finance and dispose of cars of private owners. If the vehicles are in reasonably good condition, says Manager Herb Davis.
The famine of good used cars is general and the big market on North Los Angeles-st is no exception.
The method of handling cars will be unchanged. That is, cars will be reconditioned both mechanically and in appearance and comfort, so as to retain the public's confidence in values offered. The purchaser can find out the price and condition of any car he is interested in.
FOOT AND MOUTH PROPAGANDA FALSE
(Continued from Page One) the disease would not spread. These travel restrictions have been removed in all portions of the state except small areas where infection has existed. These areas are on farms where there is no appeal to the visiting motorist. All of the national parks and national forests, embracing over 20,000,000 acres are open, and there never has been an embargo on motorists from outside the state. So far as motor touring is concerned, the state is 99 per cent normal.
Every person at work is worth so much per day—to the community. For every day that such a person is incapacitated, on account of sickness, the community is the loser—just so much. Preventing sickness is profitable business—to the community.

its influence to the end that the
best of service be given the public
at all times. The committee of
11 will also study and gather
data bearing upon hauling costs,
taxation, etc. It was the opinion
of several of the speakers that
more stability could be attained
for the industry and better service
given to the public should a
workable transportation law be
enacted, one that was uniform in
its general provisions and not
monopolistic in character. The
provisions of the California Vehicle Act, which makes uniform throughout the state the regulation of speed, weight of load, general equipment rules of operation, etc., governing all classes of motor vehicles were cited as being an improvement over earlier laws which were made at a time when the experience of motor vehicles in use was limited to but few people.
The committee of 11 was authorized to confer with the state railroad commission with a view of seeing, if possible, change in the apparent attitude of that body towards motor truck transportation could be worked out. The impression seemed to be that in interpreting present regulation by the commission, the franchise hauler only is recognized, a matter which if continued, would not only fall to give public service, but tends to create a monopoly, and is a policy which it is believed would not be as successful as that adopted by the convention. Authority was voted to test the provisions of the present act in the state courts.

Sparkes got 27 1-2 miles to the gallon of gasoline with five people in his car, and used only a quart of oil on the trip. Practically no water was used.
In the 10,000 miles he has traveled in his touring car he hasn't paid a penny for repairs.
HALL TIRES NEW RELIABLE CO.LINE
The first consignment of Hall tires, a new line, was received this week by Roy Mendoza of the Reliable Tire Co. This is a medium priced tire which comes in extreme averages. The 32 by 4, for example, sells at about $9 less than the ordinary standard cord.
Some Para-Bell balloon tires also have been received and are being tested out by Mendoza. They will be proved thorolly before being put on the market.
June business has opened well.
Mendoza reported that C. F.
Maass, who, two years ago, purchased a pair of Para-Bell tires, yesterday bought another pair, the old ones being shifted from the rear to the front of his car, which Maass used to drag tractors and for other heavy duties.

Air-cooling eliminates leaky, boiling radiators
and connections. No parts of the cooling system
can get out of order. On long, rough, rocky, tortuous grades, which necessitated using second gear,
Franklin demonstrated its cooling efficiency, when other cars had water troubles.
On Springerville to Globe road when many cars
forced to maintain 20 mile average came in late.
Franklin checked in on time, though leaving 44 minutes behind leader and losing 17 additional minutes by enforced stop.
