Stewart, local realtor, today asserted that business was good with him all the time. Prospects are numerous, and the cash is available. Two cash buyers for houses here applied last week to Stewart. The trade made thru Stewart's office, with the assistance of J. L. Swarthout, another local realtor, involved a 16-acre citrus grove, planted half to oranges and half to lemons, near the General Petroleum Co.'s lease near Richfield, belonging to C. O. Burnison, and a 280-acre improved farm near North Vernon, Ind., owned by Marshall and Messrs. Murphy and Miles, well-known businessmen of Butlerville, Ind. No cash was involved. The purchasers of the Richfield ranch will take possession on or about June 15. The Indiana farm now is under lease, planted to wheat, corn and tobacco. The farm is near the Muscatatat river and there is excellent hunting and fishing. Burnison will take over the local ranch in the fall. BUY WHITE FRONT STORE Mr. and Mrs. C. H. EXCHANGE Secretary of White House Retiree Clos Longworth, the Republican leader Representative Garrett, the Democratic leader, Representative Garner, Dem.of Texas, Representative Snell, Republican of New York, chairman of the rules committee, and Chairman Albert Johnson of the house immigration committee for a general conference with Secretary Hughes and himself, at which the international gravity of the pending exclusion clause was fully gone into by Hughes. It was reported that the president and Secretary Hughes had submitted a new proposal to the house leaders by which the sting could be taken out of the exclusion legislation so far as Japan is concerned but this could not be confirmed from any of the conferences when the meeting broke up after an hour's session. None of them would discuss it, and Coolidge and Hughes were similarly silent. A sensational report was current this afternoon that President Coolidge planned to deliver a special message to congress in person asking that the exclusion provison be amended so as not to offend Japan. This could not be confirmed from any of those attending the White House conference however. Representative Longworth said "the general executive situation" had been gone over with a view to adjournment June 7, but he was uncommunicative concerning the immigration situation. It is considered extremely doubtful if any plan could be hit upon by administration leaders that would cause the house to retract the action it has twice taken the exclusion question. The FOR RENT—Modern single and double Apts.
