The two were neck and neck for lap after lap around curves and on stretches, and avoidance of spills was almost a miracle. CARMEN END STRIKE PITTSBURGH, May 12.—By a vote of 1073 to 920, the striking employees of the Pittsburgh Railways Co. this afternoon voted to return to their posts immediately. The company announced that the men would be placed on the cars at once and operations will start as soon as possible. The men accepted a two-year contract with the same wages and working conditions. WORLD'S CHAMP SAN FRANCISCO, May 12.—Warren Kealoah of Hawaii, today held the world's championship in the 440-yard backstroke, following his sensational performance at the Olympic club-Hiwailan swimming meet in which he clipped 31 4-5 seconds off the existing record. Fullerton grammar school girls and boys tennis teams meet Santa Ana Junior high teams at the Fullerton high school grounds Friday. The last educational trip of the season was made Saturday by Fullerton grammar school honor students and faculty representatives, the party "taking in" Catalina Forty-eight students and teachers were in the party. County examinations of the eighth grades of this Fullerton grammar school are being held this week. Mrs. Detrich was born in England but came to the United States 45 years ago and to California from Colorado Springs two years ago.
