Plain, practical clothes are best suited to milady for daytime wear but she may indulge her flair for filmsy, lace garments when she retires for the night. An extremely practical little frock is the black and white check seen on the left with dainty lace collar and cuffs and a black ruffle down the front of the blouse. On the right is another handsome and practical garment—a black coat of pom pom silk with a collar of beaver.
The night robe in the center is of pleated chiffon—blue trimmed with soft, ecru lace. A negligee of the same color of cotton crepe and lace accompanies the gown.

MARABOU MAKES EFFECTIVE TRIM
The black and white combination does not seem to lose any of its popularity in spite of being much worn. The attractive costume shown is fashioned of heavy brocaded black and white satin crepe and is trimmed with marabou of the same colors. The scarf is long and straight with the marabou finishing the ends.
A handsome silk coat for "blossom time"—late spring and early summer—is practical, as well as attractive. The one pictured is fashioned of pom pom silk—a silk with little tufts or pem poms—combined in horizontal bands with plain silk. It is trimmed with a light, two tone fur called gribette, and would be acceptable as a dress wrap for daytime wear and later cover a filmy summer evening down.
WILL MILADY WEAR TROUSERS ON THE STREET?
Tis said that Dame Fashion trying to induce milady to wear trousers on the street. In other words, palmira suits as pictured later) are sponsored for general wear. The suit pictured is of black satin with lilac and cuff of many colored Persian satin, very attractive and feminine. On the left is a handsome white gown adorned with hand painted American beauty roses and fringe, with a matching scarf. One of the handsome satin coats is shown on the right. It has wide bell sleeves and is trimmed with silver braid and fur.
Three Little Scarfs
for the Tailleur
Young women nowadays would no more think of saluting forth without a scarf than would their brothers minus a cravat. With the O'Rossen tailleur and its countless cousins, scarfs of printed Crepe de chine or Cinderella tied Ascot-fashion are de rigueur. In the sketch are shown three correct ways of wearing the scarf with the tailored suit.
Sizes for scarfs are as varied as their styles. For the tailleur, printed scarfs 20 inches wide and 72 inches long, are excellent. The block printed squares, 40 inches to the side, however, are particularly smart with this outfit, especially when tied ascot-fashion. For other street costumes, scarfs run 12 inches; 20 inches; 30 inches; 86 inches; and 40 inches wide, and from 64 inches to 96 inches long. Chiffos scarfs have deep hems. Other have plain narrow hems.
