NAME ADDRESS NOR OF KANSAS IS BOOMED FOR SIDENCY AS A "REAL DIRT FARMER" SPRING MIRACLE SERMON SUBJECT The White Temple was a bower of flowers Sunday morning appropriate to the first Sunday in May. The sermon was on "The Miracle of Spring" and the texts were from the Song of Songs 2:11-13 and Matt. 6:28-29. The sermon was convincing argument for the revelation of God thru nature and was illuminated by many beautiful incidents. Dr. Geissinger said, in part: "Look at those poppies! Miles of them!" How often you have heard such exclamations out here in this California wonderland. The lilies were the poppies of Palatine. Jesus loved them. He says here: "Consider them. Take their lesson, what they have to say. God clothes the grass of the field. Will He not clothe you, O ye of little faith." God speaks to us by prophets. He speaks to us by events, in the providences of our lives. He speaks by poets. By paintings. By storm and earthquake and mountain and sea. Once more the spring has come round. The time for plowing for planting for the out of doors. It is the time for barefoot boys and girls and marbles and ball and hikes and mud piles. The Bible says: "God is in his temple. Let all the earth keep silence before Him." It also says: "He holds the winds in his fists." "His way is in the sea." "The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof." He planted the cedars of Lebanon and scattered the rocks for the conies to hide behind. Every living creature eats out of His hand. We ought to consider and heed God's word as written in the rocks and trees as well as his word written in his other Book. The musical score for the Messiah is but scratches and meaningless marks to those who know nothing about music. But the musician reads there the noblest music ever inspired. We ought to learn to read the hieroglyphics of the sky and sea for God's meaning is written large there. Jonathan M. Davis down on the farm. Masters of the presidential boom of Jonathan M. James Thompson, 17, was produced as her husband. Later in juvenile court, the mother was awarded the custody of the child-wife. It was also indicated that annulment proceedings will be started soon. Mr. McCann explained to the court that she had been separated from her husband nine years ago, and her daughter was being cared for by a grandmother. NAME ADDRESS shine means more for man and man means more for the sunshine than do the beetles and butterflies. Science no longer thinks of matter as dead. It is electronic alive. Matter is not hard and muddy but vaporous and spiritual and ready for any image that man's will may stamp upon it. Wordsworth was deeply moved to elevated thoughts by nature. Read Tintern Abbey. That is the way nature has increasingly with men. The sunrise and the sunset find us. Nature thus stirs us to the depths. Bryant read in the unerring flight of the water-fowl, a lesson in the province of God. Emerson says that every flower that studs the elastic sod to the pure heart is a word of God. That is scientifically true. Nature has a direct ministry to man. It cools our feverishness. It is good to climb the mountain-side and look down upon all our human activity. All fever thus is eradicated. It satisfies our sense of beauty. There is the violet, the wood anemone, the robin on the apple branch. Nature speaks to us without screaming and so we can hear her by listening. Nature enlarges our horizon. The sea has size to it. So also the desert. Nature exalts us. She also comforts us for she has healing for every wound and patience from every injury. She makes us glad. If we shut ourselves out from sky and sun and rain and the open we get pale skins, weak lungs, dull brains and withered souls. Nature never lets us rest with her. She sends us beyond herself. We look to the hills. But our strength, like the Psalmist's, comes not from the hills, but from the God of the hills who hath made heaven and the earth. The earth is made over every spring by the renewal that comes from the mercy of the rains and the gentle winds of God, the ministries from above. So it is and must be with the life of man. There is a soul in things. God, is back of all. Spring calls us to that renewal that comes from the heart of God to the heart of man. Mr. and Mrs. L. E. MUST BRAND JUICE SACRAMENTO, May 6 — Vendors of soft drinks who dispense imitation fruit juice or any synthetic compound under the guise that it is original, received warning today from the State Board of Health that violators of the law will receive drastic treatment. The board insists that the required standards for these beverages be adhered to and that harmful coloring materials, injurious dyes and saccharine be entirely eliminated. The wild Bornese used tuba root to poison their arrow tips. It is also a fine insectide. BOMBAY OPERATORS MUST BE LINGUISTS Bombay, the great import of the west coast of India, is perhaps the most cosmopolitan city in the whole vast Indian Empire. English, Portuguese, French, natives of India, Chinese and Japanese swarm about the great bazaars along the docks and among the cotton mills for which Bombay is famous. Christian, Mohammedan, Hindu, Parsee and Sikh meet for trade in this great center of eastern commerce. Many languages and more dialects are spoken on Bombay's broad streets and splendid quays. Anyone who serves the general public in this polyglot metropolis must, therefore, necessarily be something of a linguist; and this applies especially to the telephone operators who work at the switchboards of the local telephone system. All telephone operators in Bombay, it is said, must be able to speak, in addition to their native language, not only English; but French, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese as well.
