HYDE PARK OIL WELL BLOWS OUT The Hyde Park section of Inglewood was given a thrill of excitement a few days ago when the Standard Oil Company's Farrel well blew out gas and water in great quantities and took on the appearance of an artesian geyser. The Farrel well had been drilled to 4056 feet, a string of 3.1-2 set at 4050 was being tested when the gas started to blow from a pocket somewhere between the 151-2 and 8-1-2. The gas and water were hurled high over the derrick and it was estimated that the well was making about ten million cubic feet of gas and a 2000 barrels of water. Interest in the developments of the Standard's Los Angeles Investment property subsided when the Hyde Park well started to blow. Interest in Santa Fe Springs centers in the work of the Shell Company's efforts to develop deep sand production in the central section of the field. The Shell well on the Slusher property for a deep sand test and has the drilling down some 5300 feet. It will be remembered that the Standard drilled Brownrigg-Keller to over 7200 feet and found nothing. The Brownrigg-Keller well was considered to be located too far out on the north edge of the field. The Shell's test being better located in what was the best portion of the field seems to have a better chance of picking up a deep sand. Santa Fe Springs production dropped to 75,000 barrels and is holding quite steadily at that figure. Montebello's western extension test well is standing cemented. At 4590 a fishing job developed.
