COLLEGE COURSE FOR POLICEMEN
LOS ANGELES, April 18.—Universities will be asked to provide complete and thoro course in police training; in a position Chief Police August Vollmer is pow preparing to present to the Los Angeles police commission and the city council, which will bring out new and unusual methods recruiting, training and provision of members of the police department. ORANGE WILL HAVE $125,000 THEATER
Harry Z. Adams, wealthy Orange rancher and business man has completed plans for building a $125,000 theater in that city, work to begin May 1. The new playhouse will be located on the southwest corner of Glassell and Maple-ave., which has been owned by Mr. Adams for many years, and on which the quoits and public croquet ground is located.
The building will be 60x142 with seats for 1200, 500 in the balcony. A $15,000 pipe organ is included and hangings and drop curtains are of the richest kind.
The showhouse has been leased for ten years by the West Coast Theaters company which will bring to Orange some of the larger road shows as well as highest class moving pictures.
It is expected the building will be ready in six months.
EDWARDS RETURNS
LOS ANGELES, April 18.—Commissioner N. T. Edwards has returned from Sacramento, where the state highway commission agreed on a new bridge across San Gabriel river on Whittier-blvd.
The commission also ordered the widening of the grade from San Juan creek south of Capistrano to Irvine.

BUENA PARK, April 18.—(Spl.)—Misses Margaret and Beulah Nelson entertained the Golden Rule class of the Congregational church Monday evening. After a business meeting, games and music were enjoyed. Refreshments of salad, sandwiches olives, Nabisco wafers and hot chocolate were served to the following young ladies: Mildred Bacon, Eunice Mann, Zoe Jackson, Bertha Robison, Margie Lee, Mrs. H. C. Davis, Beulah and Margaret Nelson.
Mrs. C. W. Girvin was an Anaheim shopper Tuesday morning.
A large number of Masons attended the J. B. Reeve funeral at Fullerton Tuesday morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Lockwood of Downey visited Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Jackson Sunday.
The Buena Park Farm Bureau had an important and interesting meeting Monday night at the school auditorium. Mr. Corey, Mr. Stanley and Mr. Smiley were present and gave interesting talks. The high school band played several selections. Florence and Lester Schofield sang. Refreshments of cake, coffee and apples were served.
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Ingram announced the arrival of a son Wednesday at the Fullerton hospital.
Mrs. R. D. Bacon entertained her class of boys of the Sunday school at the community hall Saturday afternoon.
