"Flaming Barriers"
Is Big Success
Jacqueline Logan, Antonio Moore and Walter Hiers are featured players in the Paramount picture, "Flaming Barriers," a George Melford production which had a highly successful premiere at the California theatre this afternoon. "Flaming Barriers" is worthy of commendation as something out of the ordinary run of screen entertainment. It is the story of a city man sent by his father as an efficiency expert to the little town of Burbridge and the michine shop of Patriek Malone. The fact that Malone's daughter, Jerry, captures Barton's heart at first sight does not make his task any easier. But he comes through with flying colors, returning home in triumph to teach Barton, Sr., the royal game of golf, or which subject Sam is not a mere enthusiast but a "bug."
"Flaming Barriers" has been treated in true Melford fashion. It's a big picture in every sense of the word. The supporting cast includes, among other popular aristocrats, Charles Ogle as an impeccable inventor, Robert McKim, in a heavy role; Luke Cosgrove, chief mechanician of the Malone plant, and Warren Rogers as the burlesque mayor of Burbridge.

COURTHOUSE NEWS
Mrs. Louise Schmidt of Anaheim, who died April 4, left an estate valued at $15,000, according to a petition to probate her will. The property consists chiefly of three houses in Anaheim. Fred A. Schmidt, 22; Louise V. Schmidt, 20; Frances F. Schmidt Prewett, 25, all of Anaheim; Emelle Heinzemann Wagner, 40, Fullerton, and Adolph Heinzeman, 42, of Los Angeles.
In suing H. E. Johnson, proprietor of a Santa Ana feed yard, for divorce Mrs. Anna Johnson today, declared her husband, whose property she lists at $16,000, was cruel to her.
Foreclosure of property at Yorba belonging to Eduardo U. Rulk, to satisfy a promissory note for $1500, was asked today in a complaint filed by Henry Hussmann in the superior court at Santa Ana.
LADIES' GIFT NIGHT AT THE CALIFORNIA
Manager Ingram of the California theatre will be in the good graces of the ladies after tonight, alrighty, alrighty, for he has the nicest little courtesy planned for every one of them who attends the performance this evening of "Flaming Barriers." A beautiful souvenir from the Jewel Box will be given easy lady who enters the California theatre, one which she will prize and can use. Mr. Ingram and the Jewel Box are both mums as oysters when asked by the lady reporter what in the world the gift will be—both merely smiled in an indulgent manner and said: "Oh, that would be telling."
So the reporter, who has seen the picture and knows it is interesting, thrilling, high class, with the most realistic forest scene ever screened, is going again dirt.
