FILE 38 WEST ANAHEIM LEASES A large group of land owners in the Leara district, west of Anaheim, have given oil leases to the Coast Land Co., it is understood, following the filing at the recorder's office of 38 leases. Only half of the leases secured have been filed, it was believed. Here are the leases recorded by the land company and the number of acres: H. D. Heineman, 25; Austin J. His mother, Mrs. Ole Smith, spends every afternoon at the Fullerton hospital with her son. Harry Schmeider has been unable to work for the past week on account of being ill. Mr. Segelhorst and Mr. Cokeley of Redondo spent Sunday with their families on this lease. Mr. and Mrs. William Elder spent Sunday in Whittier with their children, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Whitigan. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Jones of Long Beach have moved on this lease, where they will make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Ryan entertained their son, Charles, and wife of Fullerton and Keith Ford of the West Coast lease Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. H. Schryer and daughter, Olive, had as guests Monday evening, Bill Schryer and Miss Julia Muzell of the West Coast lease. Mrs. Bert Ryan and daughter, Willie, spent Wednesday at the home of Charles Ryan and wife of Fullerton. Professor Dobins of Los Angeles was a visitor on this lease Wednesday giving violin lessons. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bennett has guests Saturday Mr. and Ms Finley and sons of Gardena. Earlyn Hunker of Olive spent the week-end with his parents this lease. He attended the rafter at Ascot Park, Los Angeles, Sunday, accompanied by Joe Caeser of Placentia. Miss Sadie Jones spent Tuesday at Long Beach. Mrs. George Cowen had her tonsils removed Monday. Mr. Gheen has relatives visiting in his home and sickness caused them to be quarantined, so Mr. Guagy is filling his place at his butcher shop. Mesdames Charles Moseley and L. H. Caulderwood motored to Whittier Wednesday. Mr. Bowman and son, Ray, were Brea visitors Tuesday evening at the Red Lantern from Olinda. Mr. and Mrs. McVey and Mrs. Frank Christie from Fullerton spent Wednesday in Brea with Mrs. Sarles and family. They are recently from Colorado. Raymond Swoop of Long Beach was a visitor in Brea Tuesday night to see his parents, W. H. Swoop and wife. Mrs. Isabella Kewish was delightfully surprised Monday night to have her nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Faragher, of Los Angeles call at her home on South Walnut at. Howard Swoap attended the baseball game in Los Angeles at Washington park Tuesday afternoon between Los Angeles and Seattle teams. Los Angeles was victorious. Roy W. Corlett and daughter ORDER ARREST OF LOS OLIVOS, P. M. SANTA BARBARA, April 11.—Warrants have been issued for the arrest of William Downs, postmaster at Los Olivos, Taylor Downs, the postmaster's aged father, and W. F. Crawford, prominent rancher, in which first degree murder is charged in connection with the killing last December of J. J. McGuire, Los Olivos blacksmith, who was blown to his death by a dynamite charge placed beneath his home and touched off while he was asleep. Issuance of the warrants by the district attorney's office followed a confession made by Harvey Stonebarger, Los Olivos well driller, who was an alleged confederate of the three men now sought and who told of the plot to take McGuire's life. Stonebarger broke down and confessed what he knew about the dynamiting after more than 100 hours grilling during which the "Me detector," invented by Chief of Police Vollmer of Los Angeles, was used. Less than a week after his ministry was overthrown, Georges Theunis was asked by the king of the Belgians to form a new cabinet. Theunis stepped out after the defeat of his government by a coalition of Socialist and Catholic groups against the Franco-Belgian economic convention. Other leaders declined the invitation to assume the responsibilities of premier, and the king had to call on Theunis again.
