THIS IS GAS APPLIANCE Modern Kitchen Equipment Means Romance for Mother Mountains when viewed from a great distance become azure blue and the elements of romance and mystery loom up because of the distance. In a like manner people today are inclined to look back on the past, to the days of our frontiers and Colonial times for romance. Little realizing that in the very midst of our every day life romance abounds on every hand. There is romance in our business life, in our great industries and in every phase of our complicated fabric of civilization. Not only in the harnessing of nature's forces above or underground do we find the mysterious things which fascinate us. There is romance in the foods we eat some of which come from the four corners of the earth. There is romance in the clothes we wear, the raw materials of which come from far away Australia or India or Japan. HELLO DIXIE Gasoline Los Angeles and Broadway ANAHEIM And above all there is romance in the kitchen where millions of mothers every day cook the meals for a great nation. There is a certain mystery in the old faithful gas range in the kitchen which responds every time the valve is turned. Likewise the gas space heater in the living or bath room has its element of mystery. And so does the old gas water heater, which never fails to pour forth its steaming hot water for kitchen use or for the bath room. The modern American home today would lack a great many of its conveniences were it not for the use of gas and the many efficient gas appliances so commonly used in every home. In the 1924 home turn of a valve instantly starts the flow of gas at your beck and call. Cooking is made easier and homes made happier for this comfort-giving utility and its many kindred appliances. It was not a great many years ago when our mothers and grand-mothers cooked their meals over an open grate and worried through all the inconveniences of building the great fire in the hearth, carrying in the wood, totting out theashes and then cleaning up theoot and muss. Gas heating a few decades ago was unknown. Only during the last quarter of a century have engineers perfected the modern gas heaters which play so important a part in the comfort of our homes. How much easier and finer it is to use a gas heater which responds to the touch of a match. Such comfort was never dreamed of by our grandmothers who struggled through the years carrying in wood or carrying out ashes, an endless task. And the gas water heater also plays its part in the romance of modern life. The gas water heater today affords every home an abundant supply of steaming hot water at any hour of the day's 24h What greater comfort in the home could be desired than an appliance which at the turn if a furnace pours forth a supply of hot water adequate for my household use. In passing it might not be added to note that the gas water heater which now plays such importance part in most of our modern homes has been instrumental in making the 'weekly Saturday night bath a daily habit.' Time was not so far distant when it was considered dangerous to bathe unless advised to do so by the family physician. It was in the early forties when the first bath tub was built in the United States and to President Fillmore falls the distinction of being the first executive of the White House to enjoy the convenience of a bath tub. Boston and many leading cities less than a century ago had laws on the statute books which prohibited bathing without a doctor's order. And so, the gas industry with its steaming hot water flowing from a water heater, claims much credit for making the bath a daily habit. In addition to the big three in gas appliances for, the modern home, the gas range, the gas heater and the gas water heater there are numerous other gas burning appliances which add to comfort and convenience in our modern life. Furthermore, there are more than 1200 uses to which gas can be put, either in the house in the factory or in other indus- Gasoline Los Angeles and Broadway ANAHEIM NEW MEXICO OIL LEASES The Great San Juan Basin of New Mexico. The date of Garden Grove's sewer bond election probably will be set tonight, according to Dr. C. C. Violett, chairman of the trustees of the sanitary district. The issue is estimated at $16,-000 as Garden Grove's share of the outfall sewer cost alone. To that will be added a small amount to cover the cost of construction of the local sewer. Within the sanitary district, which will cover about quarter of a mile square, will be an improvement district, embracing only two main business sections of the city. This section alone will pay for the local sewer line, besides contributing pro rata to the outfall sewer expenses.
