MONDAY, March 24, 1924 SOCIETY YOEMAN LODGES ENTERTAIN SEN. WILSON OF S. D. A auspicious occasion for Yoe men of Fullerton, Orange and Anaheim was the big gathering and party staged Saturday in Odd Fellows hall in Fullerton, when more than 200 members were present to greet several officers of note and to enjoy the excellent banquet served at 7 o'clock. The tables were elaborately trimmed in red and green, lodge colors, and which was the handiwork of a Fullerton florist. Carnations, tulip, sweet peas and colored creepe paper combined to make the dining room a bower of beauty. One hundred were sent in the lodgemeeting afterward. The lodge room was triangular with palms and ferns. Among the notable visitors were Sen. S. E. Wilson, of South Dakota, who is superintendent director of Redwood, N. Dak.; Mrs. Etha K. Johnson, superintendent overseer, of Los Angeles; W. J. Elliott, state manager, and Mrs. Elliott of Manteca, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Shorb, Colorado Springs; Charles G. Young, state coroner or California Sen. Wilson and others made short addresses for the good of the order. A large class, more than 20, candidates were initiated by the degree team of California Pacific lodge, of Los Angeles. Joint installation was conducted by the California Pacific Yoseman Guard team, all women, who were beautifully crowned for the occasion. The Yoeman lodges of Orange-co have taken on new life since J. R. Preeman's return to activity. The next local meeting will be held Monday, April 7, in Pape's hall. S. S. Conference Soon Preparations are being made for the county convention of international Sunday School association which will be held in Fullerton Baptist church, Wednesday and Thursday, April 2 and 3. Two addresses by Marion Lawrence, a Sunday school teacher of international fame, will feature the convention, but other prominent workers will also be present. Departmental conferences and instruction will be held at set hours during the two days and many teachers and Sunday school workers are planning to be present. "Charlie" Brings Bride Charlie Scott of Payne's Grocery "put one over" on his friends that week. He disappeared from his acustomed place as chief clerk last Tuesday, and this morning what should he do but show up again with a blushing bride, and a box of cigars. He explained that he had gone to Hermesa (Spanish for beautiful) Beach where he was wedded to a Hermesa widow, and the two went to San Diego on their honeymoon trip. They plan to make their home in Anaheim. Mrs. Scott was formerly Mrs. Harriet Duccan. Jayhawkers Picnic All who ever lived in Kansas are called to meet for a great picnic reunion, Saturday, March 25, in Sycamore Grove Los Angeles. Go as early and spend the day with friends. County registrals will be open all day. A brief program opens about 2 o'clock. Bring well filled baskets for the dinner hour. Coffee will be served free to all who buy the convenir badges. Farewell luncheon LOVE OF YOUTH UNDIMMED BY TIDE OF YEAR THE 57th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. George Weeren of 437 Isabelst., Los Angeles parents of Mrs. Mary Betzoldt Anaheim, was celebrated with big party yesterday. The affair was a complete surprise and merriment lunchoon which was enjoyed at noon. The aged "newlyweds received many gifts. The couple had six children, one of whom are living, Mrs. M. Betzoldt and Mrs. Sadie Alec. There are nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Guests at the party yesterday included Mrs. Mary Betzoldt in two daughters, Alice and Edel Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Gorham baby son, Mr. and Mrs. George Betzoldt, Mr. and Mrs. M. Bevere and daughters, Oreana and Ramona, all of A-beth, Mr. and Mrs. Clarens ween, Mr. S. M. Miller, Mrs. William Pearson, Mrs. Sadie Alec Mrs. Mary Henry, Mr. and Mr John Poster, Mrs. C. A Wood Missen Jennie and Katherine Master Charlie Wood, all of Angles; Mr. and Mrs. Chayden Black Duck, Minn.; and Mrs Albert Alcock Margaret Alice and Martha Jane Alcock Mrs. D. G. Evening The Patriotic meeting held this evening in the Presbyterian church was preceded this afternoon by a conference and social hour held with Mrs. T. H. Walker. Two notables in W. C. T. U. work will be present at the evening meeting. Mrs. Eva Craven Wheeler, state president of Southern California, and Mrs. Hattie C. Young, state recording secretary, will both bring messages through their topics: "A Million for Defense," and "The New Challenge." Mrs. Walter Ross will sing "Story of the Flag." Everyone is cordially invited. Flower Mission The Flower Mission of the Presbyterian church will meet tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 with Miss Marjorie Day, of Lincoln-ave, Mrs. George Ross will be assistant hostess. Wright, who left yesterday for her new home in Salt Lake City, were honored Saturday afternoon with a farewell luncheon party given by Mrs. George Fendley, of South Los Angeles at. The guests included the closest friends of the two honored ladies, and were the Mesdames D. W. Wright, Henry Havey, George Tedrick, William Price, Frank Dotts, Holstrom and Robert Rimpu. Fancy work and topics of the day occupied the fingers and visiting hour in the afternoon. Mooseheart Tomorrow Women of the Mooseheart will hold the regular meeting tomorrow evening at 7:45 in Moose hall. Dr. and Mrs.J.E.Countryman and family, of Long Beach, were older guests yesterday of Dr.Mrs.W.R.Blakley.In their new location at the roof garden of the Hotel Anaelina was a great success from a musical standpoint.The program was carried out as planned.Miss Grace Curtiss very capably rendered "Etude in D Flat" by Lizzt.Miss Curtiss is recognized as a pianist as well as an organist and displayed her talent unusually well. Music lovers who missed the concert yesterday missed something really worth while.The programs will be given weekly. Mrs. Anna Brookhauer was long passed to the Study Section of the fomans club at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy Crumrine. There was a good attendance. One new member was admitted, Mrs. F. Espolt. Much local history was brought out by papers by the members Mrs. John Lukkers had some very valuable data in the first settlement of Elmonte, Puente and the Rowland Branch. Mrs. Garretson, Mrs. Hary Davis, Mrs. W. L. York and Mrs. Gurley added interesting features to the study. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Harry Hart in Lindauer court. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cline were guests at the G. F. Walker home in South College avenue Wednesday evening. The Graves Auto Electric, located in the La Habra Star building in East Central ave was sold this week to Harry Shelby, who has been associated with the firm for some time past. Mr. Graver estilished the battery service station last year, and has built up a most successful business. Mr. Graves plans for the future are not completed as yet. L. S. Olson has sold his property in West Florence ave to his father Jacob Olson of La Habra. Mr. Olson with his family moved to their home in Los Angeles. Robert Casad moved with his family from Belvedere Gardens to the Root home on Erna-st. Mrs. Emma Swany is spending few days in Los Angeles with her brother O. L. Stephens. Mrs. G. O. Zehner of Redondo Beach is visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Biddleton. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ringrose who have been visiting with their husband Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Rhodes of West Erna-st, for some time ter Virginia spent the day in Los Angeles Monday. Mr. and Mrs. George Clairville were business visitors in Los Angles Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Benson, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Benson, and the sister of Mrs. Paul Benson, Mrs. Bass McGregor, who has been visiting at the home of the Bensours, spent the day at Long Beach, afferward taking the guest to Wilmington where she left for her home in San Francisco, on the steamship Harvard. Mr. and Mrs John Lefferts who have been visiting in La Habra at the Samuel Stoop's home, returned to Hollywood Monday, where they will visit friends before their departure to their home in Pennsylvania.
