FINANCES CAUSES TRIPLE TRAGEDY
SPER, Wyo., March 17.—Financial difficulties are believed by police this morning to have caused Fred Van Gordon, prominent business man and head of the Van Gordon Investment Company, to murder his wife and 12-year-old son here yesterday.
Van Gordon himself was slain by Sheriff Albert Peyton, after a desperate running battle between the two men in Douglas, where the murderer, had fled after disposing of the bodies of the victims in Duxip Creek, two miles east of here.
The boy had been shot twice in the head with a large calibre revolver, while one bullet was found in the body of Mrs. Van Gordon.
Van Gordon lived ten minutes after being shot by Sheriff Payton but refused to make any statement. The first intimation that police had of the killing was a letter addressed to Van Gordon's attorney, reading "I can't stand the gaff any longer, please settle up my affairs the best you can."
McAdoo 'Four Square' in Regard to K. K. K.
SAVANNAH, Ga., March 17.—William Gibbs McAdoo concluded a two-day speaking tour of Georgia by describing what he believes will be the issues of the coming campaign and arranging the Republican party. Mr. McAdoo and Senator Underwood of Alabama are the only candidates to be voted on in the Georgia presidential preferential primary.
At Macon R. I. Stevens, a lawyer, interrupted Mr. McAdoo to ask his stand on the Ku Klux Klan.
"I stand four-square with respect to this," Mr. McAdoo replied. "And I stand four-square with respect to every other organization on the immutable question of freedom of religious worship, freedom of speech, freedom of the press and right of peaceable assembly."
37-STORY STRUCTURE IN NEW YORK WILL BE LARGEST BUILDING IN WORLD
Architect's drawing of the proposed new New York skyscraper.
What will be the world's largest office building surpassing by far the General Motors building in Detroit and the Equitable building in New York, will be begun in New York shortly by Henry Mandel associates on the large block bounded by 32nd and 83rd streets and Fourth and Lexington avenues, at present occupied by carbarns.
37-story building will be distinctly American in architectural treatment.

FEWER CARS ON
CENTER-ST. TODAY
Center-st looked half-deserted today with the new parking ordinance in effect. In some blocks only half as many cars as usual were to be seen. The side streets took the cars ordinarily parked on the two main streets.
Drivers will be given a warning for a day or two ret, City Marshal Bert Moody said, before being tagged.
The ordinance will be a big help to the Anaheim Fire Department, according to members.
The ordinance provides that between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. cars may be parked for not more than two hours on Center between Helena and Philadelphia and on Los Angeles between Chestnut and Chartres. Sundays and holidays are excepted.
Merchants, according to previous canvasses of opinion, favor the ordinance, because it helps prevent the blocking of the streets in front of their stores, shutting off patrons.
HOSPITAL ADDS
X-RAY DEPARTM'T
Always abreast of the times, the Anaheim Community hospital has just completed installation of a modern X-ray department, and an experienced X-ray technician has been placed in charge and picture analysis is at any time available.
The hospital is much pleased as it nears the close of its first year in the new location, and among the prominent men and women of tomorrow many will name the comfy place as their point of embarking upon the sea of life.

FROM WORLD COURT, SANS MRS. C
The latest photo of Mrs. Carrie Chapman Catt (right) shows with Mary Garrett Hay, noted suffragist.
"The probe of the oil scandal is being used as a screen behind to choke to death the resolution providing for entrance of the States in the world court," Mrs. Carrie Chapman Catt, inter women's leader, declared. Senators who are determined that never come up for consideration are taking this opportunity to it in a committee room, she said. While unwilling to predict effect would be on the forthcoming presidential election, she women would go into the campaign determined to further the world peace.

DRIVER OF DEATH
CAR IS ON TRIAL
The trial of J. B. Brooks,
charged with manslaughter, was
being heard by Justice J. B. Cox
today. The plaintiff, Miss Martha
Duncan, told how her sister, Mrs.
Justina Duncan, was killed instantly when their car, hit by the
car driven by Brooks, turned completely over. Two other occupants,
Miss Martha Duncan, who was
driving, and her sister, Miss Ruth,
are still suffering from injuries.
Miss Martha was brought into
court in a chair and was propped
with pillows. As she talked, her
face showed signs of anguish.
Ruth Duncan gave about the same
testimony as her sister. A cousin,
Violet, also in the car, gave her
version of the wreck. Brooks' car
went into a ditch but he was unhurt.
Prosecution attempted to show
that Brooks might have been under
influence of liquor since a blood stained flask was found
near the scene where the car went into the ditch.
