Silverphilanthropist, composer, prominent merchant, and Beecher Cass, president of Calif., Tel. Co. "Daddy" Silverwood, got big-hearted, was laid to rest the Shrine chanters sing eulogy. Mr. Cass was borne to him by his ten sons. In tribute memory all operations of the phone company were ceased minute. This will be the question the coroner’s office here today will attempt to solve, in the death of Mrs. Virginia Clarke, pretty young wife of Casper W. Clark Seattle banker, who was found dead with a bullet thrugh her heart, at the home of Edward R. Agnew in the exclusive Highlands district. Mrs. Clarke was to have attended the presentation of “Mefistofele” by the Chicago Grand Opera Co. last night, when she was found dead by her father-in-law, who called to get her. Her husband, who is head of the credit department of the Union National and Dexter-Horton National bank amalgamation, had been detained at the bank. WILL PROBE GRAFT CASE IN NEBRASKA OMAHA, March 14. — Senator Brookhart of Iowa, chairman of the committee which is investigating Attorney General Daugherty’s conduct of office, today is considering a probe to determine why a post-war airplane graft case in Nebraska was not prosecuted by the department of justice, he has advised the Omaha Daily News. The case came to light in the fall of 1921. According to telegrams to the Omaha Daily News, Senator Brookhart’s plan was to lay the matter before his colleagues in secret session today. SUES DOCTOR FOR $100,000 DAMAGES LOS ANGELES, March 14. — Charging that instead of improving the shape of her nose, Dr. Robert Griffith, plastic surgeon, made an ugly dent in the end of it and that it is permanently deformed, Mrs. Minnie Chaplin, wife of Sydney Chaplin, and sister-in-law of Charles Chapulin, had on file here today a suit for $100,000 damages against the physician. DUMOVICH TURNED BACK TO ANGELS LOS ANGELES, March 14. — Nick Dumovich, southpaw twirler, sold to the Chicago Cubs, following the 1922 season, was turned back to the Los Angeles club today. Nick failed to hit his stride against major league batting last season and Manager Bill Killifer of the Cubs believes he needs more double-A ball experience, it was reported. He is said to have tried to avoid a collision with another car. There were two others in the car with him, but they escaped injury, it is said. He was bruised and scratched up, but no bones were broken. Wilbur who was named by President Coolidge as secretary of the navy on that date. Justice Wilbur was married on the 13th of the month, took his bride to live at No. 1313 Winfredst., Los Angeles, was admitted to the bar on the jinx date and inducted into the chief justiceship on that date.
