"VODE" BILL DAY AT CALIFORNIA (By the California Press Agent) Tom Ingram is to blame for it all—this mess of trouble we are in right at this moment, for if "Tom" didn't have such big ideas concerning his vaudeville shows we wouldn't have to worry so much about writing a story for the newspapers. We suppose most every one is familiar with the method Manager Ingram uses in booking his acts, but for those that don't know, let us say that Ingram makes a trip to Los Angeles every Wednesday to view and pick out the numbers that he wants for the vaudeville show the following week. Now, here is the fix we are in. The show for this week looks like an Orpheum bill, judging from the press matter of the acts and the scenery they carry, so we're in the same fix we were once before in picking the feature act—we don't know which to choose. Tom just came in the office a minute ago, and we were moaning our troubles to him, and we'll be darned if he didn't solve the problem right off the bat by saying, "Make them all features it's a knock-out show"—so here goes. But, before we start on the acts, just let us tell you that a big truck load of special scenery just backed up to the stage entrance of the California, and from the looks of it a person would think that some big musical show was coming to town. The stage manager just came in and we asked him about it, and he said, "Gosh, yes—every act has a special set—an I've got't work my head off gettin it up and then work it off again taking it down.
