SIDNAM WRITES SECY. WILLAMAN Pres. B. H. Sidnam of Anaheim Really board has written Sec'y. Glen D. Willaman of the State Real Estate Ass'n, the following which is self-explanatory: Dear Sir: At the suggestion of Everett White, I am writing you to get your opinion of an industrial conference to be held in Anaheim some time in April. We believe that So. Calif.'s just entering or an industrial one that, if properly fostered, will result in an immense payroll within the next few years. Many eastern manufacturers have had their eyes on this district for some time, and have proven to their own satisfaction that the manufacturing cost on the coast is much less than in the east. They have also shown themselves partial to the smaller communities, as tending to reduce industrial unrest. Our city has taken notice of these conditions, and we are today on the home stretch of a campaign for raising $200,000.00 for the Community Industrial Land Company, Inc., which corporation is to provide industrial sites for manufacturers in our community. We expect it have a payroll of at least $25,000.00 per week within the year. The opportunity is at hand now for other cities and smaller communities to have a year-round payroll that will have a tendency to stabilize conditions in a year that agriculturally might be below par, somewhat like the present season. We believe this to be a vital problem that with little effort will result in big things for the communities which recognize the tendency of the times. Our idea is to call an industrial conference for the 8th regional district, on practically the same lines as the farm-land conferences which have been so successful recently. We believe we are in an especially favorable position to hold the first conference and know that, with the backing of the State Real Estate Association, we can successfully put it over. This project at present is in the FLAMES DESTROY FAMOUS RESORT BOULDER, Colo., March 3. Eldorado Springs, a famous summer resort in the heart of the Rockies five miles south of here, was early this morning reported in flames, with little hope of saving it from total destruction, as heavy winds are sweeping the flames from building to building. Fire apparatus from Boulder has been rushed to the resort, but because of an inadequate water system, only chemicals can be used in fighting the fire. At 6 o'clock the Grandview hotel and two cottages had been consumed, while huge sheets of flames were licking at the New Eldorado hotel and the large swimming pool near by. Hundreds of cottages dot the mountain sides, which are thickly wooded and unless the fire is brot under control shortly, a serious forest fire may result. But five or six families live in the resort during the winter months and when their efforts to fight the flames were found unavailing, a call to Boulder was sent in for help. The cause of the fire is unknown. DISARMAMENT MEET IS NOT TIMELY NOW LONDON, March 3. The present moment is inopportune for any single nation to attempt to summon a disarmament conference, Premier Ramsay MacDonald told the house of commons this afternoon. Asked whether he intended to call an international disarmament conference, the premier replied: "Broadly speaking, the League of Nations already has discussed that situation." I don't think the present moment suitable for an independent step. We must await developments." NEGRO FIRE HERO DENVER, March 3. Tommy Gross, negro fireman, was the hero of a fire early this morning that threatened for a time to destroy the clubhouse of the La-Payette Young Women's club, occupied by about 100 girls. With a ladder against the building Gross hastily scaled it and where your troubles are w NEGRO FIRE HERO DENVER, March 3. — Tommy Gross, negro fireman, was the hero of a fire early this morning that threatened for a time to destroy the clubhouse of the La-Fayette Young Women's club, occupied by about 100 girls. With a ladder against the building Gross hastily scaled it and bracing himself at the top, caught two girls as they jumped and carried them thru a thick cloud of smoke to safety. Only the quick work of the firemen in entering the building and breaking out the windows, saved many of the girls and fire fighters from being overcome. PEAR ICE GORGE SCHUYLER, Neb., March 3. — After a week of strenuous activity by dynamiting crews attempting to break up the gigantic ice gorge in the Platte river near here today, the water today was creeping toward Schuyler, threatening a disastrous flood. Larry Rouse, in charge of the dynamiters, said the river was out of the lowlands and that it had been necessary to close the state highway which crosses the river near here. House said that reports of an ice gorge at Fullerton was causing damage there by overflows into the lowlands. If this gorge should suddenly give way, Rouse said. It would release a flood of water that would cause disastrous damage in this vicinity. The reason for this unusual fascination was revealed here the other day when prohibition sloths confiscated a large number of them in a raid on a local "speak-easy." The dolls, which would have delighted most any little girl, were intended to delight daddy instead it was revealed. An investigation proved that in the absence of the regulation exceleior stuffing each doll contained about a pint of real Spanish wine. The bottles were skillfully concealed under the dresses in the body, and only the weight of the toy would arouse suspicion. And thus it became known why these dolls were so popular here during the holidays, when scores of them were sold as toys.
