AUTO PATROL IN SERIOUS CRASH
SAN PEDRO, Feb. 29.—Two police officers and two prisoners were badly injured, and four other prisoners were cut and bruised early today when a heavy police patrol machine collided with a truck loaded with sand during a heavy fog at Main and Anaheim-six.
Officers George Goss, driver of the car, and Robert Lennon, who was guarding the prisoners, were removed to the White Memorial Hospital.
Two of the prisoners were also treated at the receiving hospital here.
An immediate investigation was launched into the crash. Goss said he was driving at a fair rate of speed thru the thick fog.
COUZENS ATTACKS ANTI-BONUS HEAD
WASHINGTON, Feb. 29.—Senator James Couzens, Republican of Michigan, today wrote a hot letter to Knowlton Durham, head of the ex-service men's anti-bonus league, denouncing the league's methods of opposing the bonus as "reprehensible" and asserting that the "sources from which you received your campaign funds could well be given the light of day."
Couzens' letter was in reply to a letter from Durham asking Couzens, as a business man, to contribute funds to the league's campaign.
E. P. SMITH IMPROVING
E. P. Smith, of Cyprus, was brought home from the Long Beach hospital where he was taken Tuesday. An abercin in his throat has caused illness for two weeks, but successful draining now allows of speedy recovery.
Mrs. Smith, who has been home but a short time from the Anaheim hospital, remained at the home of her uncle G. G. Priddy, during her husband's absence.
LUMBER DEALERS IN SOCIAL EVENING
Anaheim members of the Orange County Lumber Club were guests of the Fullerton lumber dealers at McFarland's Cafe, last evening. Dinner was served at 6:30 and entertainment followed.
Norman MacBeth of the River-side Portland Cement Co., gave the principal address of the evening.
During the social hour Ted and Alice Corcoran entertained with musical numbers. Ted played the xylophone and his sister accompanied him. These two have appeared on numerous programs and are always in demand.
SHIP LAST NAVELS
The Anaheim Orange & Lemon Ass'n., finished shipping navels Wednesday. It was the last of the local packing organizations to ship.
Shipment of sweets, St. Mike's seedlings and bloods will follow in the next few weeks.
27 SHIP WRECK VIOTIMS ARRIVAL
VICTORIA, B. C., Feb. 28. Making light of their hardship 27 officers and members of crew of the Norwegian steam Tatjana, arrived here today on M. S. Armentieres.
Captain Morvib, master of vessel, is standing by the wreck on Village Island, on the west coast of Vancouver Island, in hope of salvaging her.
The savage steamer Tees making an examination of the vessel and latest reports state she may be floated.
CITRUS SHIPMENTS EXCEED LAST YEAR
Nearly 1200 more cars oranges have been shipped so far. Calif., than last year, totals being 14,671 and 13, respectively.
Over 400 more cars of lemons have been sent out—2387 co-peared with 1954.
So. Calif., shipped 2206 cars lemons against 1715 last year.
Central Calif., with 5904 cars oranges against 4666 last year showed the biggest gain in production.
OILMAN RECOVERY
William Debarry 50, of Habra, who had both legs broken below the knee in an accident months ago at the Shell Oil Plant, is recovering nicely. It shown yesterday by an X-ray ture. Debarry was taken to doctor's office in the Seale balance.

YORBA LINDA, Feb. 29.—(Spl.) At the regular meeting of the Y. L. Women's club, held in the clubrooms on Tuesday afternoon, the principle business consisted of the election of officers. Preceding this, it was decided by vote to pay $500 off the debt on the clubhouse, the treasurer having reported a bank balance of over $600. The new officers are to take office in May and the old staff was completely changed. The election resulted as follows: Miss Marsha Vernon, president; Mrs. Frank Rosapaw, vice president; Mrs. A. W. Miller, secretary; Mrs. A. P. Yerrington, treasurer; Mrs. H. R. Brown, corresponding secretary; and Mrs. Hargrove, trustee. A cooked food sale will be held a week from Saturday, more particulars of which will be announced later. On the evening of the same day will be held the third of the series of card parties being given by the "Ways and Means," com. At the first party, the ladies won high score at the last the men finished ahead, and a large crowd is expected at the third as interest is running high. After the sixth of the series the losing side will furnish a barbecue at Orange County Park to the winner.
Mrs. Mattie Cochran of Los Angeles spent Tuesday with Dr. and Mrs. R. C. Cochran.
Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Mann of Hollywood, formerly of this place were visiting in town on Tuesday.
Mr. Murray Horne, horticultural inspector, has returned from San Bernardino where he was in attendance at the Orange Show. He was present when the high winds blew down the tents and reports a most exciting time. He thinks it miraculous that there were no seriously injured when there were eight thousand people in the tent and the large tent poles were snapped in two like sticks. Many machines parked close, were wrecked by falling debris.

Bobby Burnison is another of the mump victims.
Mrs. C. E. Thomas is ill with mumps.
C. R. Selover of Garden Grove was a visitor in town on Wednesday.

LA HABRA, Feb. 29.—(Spl.) C. S. Donaldson, who has been conducting the White Way barber shop on East Central-ave, for some time, sold the establishment to J. L. Duncan of Fullerton. The business is in charge of J. C. Wood, who has been connected with the shop for some time past. Mr. Donaldson will probably remain in La Habra and engage in another line of business.
Visitors from La Habra to the Iowa picnic Friday included Mr. and Mrs. T. Benson, Mr. and Mrs. D. Hungerford, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Schenider, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Young, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kenny and Mr. and Mrs. Haldeman.
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. York motored to Long Beach Tuesday, where they spent the day.
At their cosy home on West Central-ave., Mr. and Mrs. William Portson entertained at dinner Sunday evening in honor of the 25th wedding anniversary of Mrs. Fortson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George McWhirter, of East Whittier. Covers were laid at the dainty arranged table for Mr. McWhirter's sister, Mrs. Frances Van Buskirk, of Portland, Ore., Mrs. B. R. Bryson of Iowa Falls, Ia., sister of Mrs. McWhirter; Robert McWhirter, son of the honorees who has just returned from Tuscon, Ark., where he had been with the Whittier College basketball team, and the honorees, Mr. and Mrs. McWhirter, and the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Fortson.
Mrs. M. Law of Pasadena was the guest for a few days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H.A.Robinson of Erna-st.
Mr. and Mrs.J.A.Barnett of Pasadena, accompanied by Mr., and Mrs.C.E.Northam, were business visitors in La Habra Tuesday. Mr.Barnett is the owner of the Hill apartments.

Yorba Linda is very proud of the fact that its lemons, packed by the Foothill groves packing house were awarded the sweepstakes first prize at the National Orange Show in San Bernardino this week. The prize is equivalent to being adjudged the best fruit of this kind grown in the world and carried a cash prize of $200 with it.

COOLIDGE IN NEW JERSEY PRIMARY
TRENTON, N. J., Feb. 29.-Republican State Chairman E. C. Stokes today notified President Coolidge that his name would be on the New Jersey presidential primary ballot April 22 for the republican nomination for president.
Under the laws of New Jersey it is not necessary that Mr. Coolidge should file an acceptance.
