VODE BILL NIGHT AT CALIFORNIA
Many well know acts are to be on view at the California tonight. When Manager Tom Ingram gives the whistle that starts the evening performance of the vaudeville show. Since Manager Ingram, who, a few weeks ago, took over the booking of vaudeville for the California, a decided change has resulted in the class of acts and, incidentally, in the business that has been attracted to the theater, all of which goes to show that a "persona itouch" is all that is needed in Anaheim to put over a good show.
This week's bill is headed by Demure, Null and Vold, a trio of funmakers, who, individually, are well known over most of the big circuits of the country. "A Child Shall Lead Them," is the title of their act. It was built for laughing purposes only and there is no tangible plot, but the fun is so fast and furious during the 14 minutes they are on the stage that the audience will feel it has been royally entertained.
Next of importance on the bill is "Melodies of Yesterday," performed by three splendid artists. The public has been fed on "jazz" for so long that every one will appreciate the work of this excellent trio, singing as they do, the old songs and presenting the beautiful oldtime dances. This is an act that will draw a great amount of applause.
The other numbers of the bill include Jack Wise, late star of the Will King show, Mann and Malory in "Breezy Bits" and last but not least is "Al Rags" Bock who paints as he calls them "Paintless Pictures." This act is a novelty of the first water.
The photoplay feature will be Vioia Dana in "Rouged Lips" adapted from Rita Weiman's story "Up Stage." Taken all together, this is a very well balanced bill and there is no doubt that viewers will get more than their money's worth.
CYPRESS
CYPRESS, Feb. 25.—(Epl.)—E. P. Smith, who has been ill for several days with tonsifitis, has gone to Long Beach for treatment. He is under the care of Dr. M. H. Damon at one of the Long Beach hospitals and it is thought that a few days' treatment will conquer the infection.
The new home of Sconce-Priddy, really firm, is about complete. It is a work of art and has Jacob's coat backed off the map for neatness.
Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Lodford are wearing large smiles these days as the result of the advent of a grandson, Calvin, Jr., at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Ledford of Harding.
James Mabury of Santa Fe Springs was a business visitor in Cypress yesterday.
Lawrence Webber and L. Wetser of Norwalk were dinner guests of the W. C. Millers Saturday evening.
A three-card monte shark dropped in on the innocents of Cypress one day last week and dish-ed out $26 worth of knowledge.
HOST TO SCOUTS
Glen Sharp was host last evening to the Panther Patrol at home on So. Janas-st. The evening hours were passed in to and the boys are now ready to for first class. The troop will represented at the next meet of the Court of Honor.
The boys again reviewed events of the field meet held Brea Saturday, which was won by the Panther Patrol and the Silly Fox Patrol of Troop No. 3, A.helm. Ed Fisher introduced some new scout yells which were heard with much enthusiasm.
The patrol leaders will meet night at 7:30 at the K. of C. to rehearse for the play they present Friday night when they entertain their mothers and fathers.
Elichard Calkins brought his mouse to the meeting but it ended too much excitement and penned up by the owner.
What an embarrassing nation: A full cradle and empty purse.

Friday brings another "gift Nite," the capital prize being a $25 diamond ring from the Jewel Bar. The photoplay will be Colleen Moore in "Thru the Dark," the picture which has had such a long run at the California in Los Angeles.
MANY CHILDREN UNDERFED
CHICAGO, Feb. 25.—Asserting that between 35 and 40 per cent of the children attending Chicago's public schools are under-nourished, a committee from the Physicians' Fellowship club has taken steps by which it hopes to bring about the adoption of corrective measures for this condition.
"Conditions in the schools have reached a point which necessitates immediate action," Dr. Ritter, a member of the club, explained. "The physical and mental development of many children is being seriously retarded."
Few parents know how to feed their children or care for their health. Education alone will eradicate this condition. Our plans will not conflict with any action now being contemplated.
