CREPE A The popularity for afternoon and does not wane in hosts of other alas. A combination and colored canton on the left of the Black fashiona the AIM OF BEST DRESSED WOMAN IS "SMART SIMPLICITY" For sports wear a fiber silk sweater in grey is chic (right) embroidered in rose and blue. It is worn with a white broadcloth skirt. The needs of childhood are admirably filled by knitted outerwear. Especially in this cunning glue frock, which is edged with white, and has horizontal white bandings around the bottom of the skirt. AIM OF BEST DRESSED WOMAN IS "SMART SIMPLICITY" The hat of today insists on being small and chic. Aside from that you can make your choice. You may adopt the plain sports felt, the flower trimmed chapeau or a happy medium. On the left of the illustration we have the flower trimmed hat with a slightly rolling brim. Tan and blue is the color scheme—bluebird blue velvet trimmed with velvet flowers in the two shades. The one on the left, on the other hand, is a sports model in brown felt. Circ ribbon in a harmonizing tone is drawn through the felt making a conventional design of crosses. Reminds one of their kindergarten days, doesn't it? And speaking of "smart simplicity," the frock and hat in the center exemplifies it. Frock of brown, self-stripe velvet with linen cuffs and collar. Three pockets, too, and a white suede belt. The little hat is also brown velvet in a poke shape and is encircled with silk sleeves. VERBLOUSE Varden chiffon—yellow with pink roses—and the skirt is trimmed with black lace. The graceful gown on the right is of black beaded in dull gold. BURNT ORANGE VELVET "POKE" The burnt orange of this little velvet "poke" hat will give a touch of cheerful color when the grey days come. The crown is embellished with embroidered motifs in tones of orange. A gray frock of fibre silk and wool interknitted has chic slenderness of line. WEL CREPE AND KNITTED FROCKS HOLD THEIR POPULARITY The popularity of crepe, both for afternoon and evening gowns, does not wane in spite of the hosts of other alluring materials. A combination of black and colored canton crepe is shown on the left of the illustration. Black fashions the gown proper with hem and sleeves of printed green crepe. The frock is further embellished by a white bead trimming. In the center is another crepe frock—a white crepe evening gown beaded in red, blue and crystal. An elaborate rhinestone buckle is placed directly in front and from it falls a draping of pure white which gives the Egyptian touch that fashion is loath to give up. A simple little knitted sports frock in black and white seems at the right. CAPES ARE WORN AS WRAPS AND AS ACCESSORIES Capes are being featured in the spring modes both as wraps by themselves and as suit and dress accessories. This lovely wrap is made of chenille cloth and banded in gold embroidery. The trimming is wide at the bottom with narrower bands down the fronts and around the collar. SMART SUIT IN STYLISH BROWN For Southern wear or as a suggestion for next spring is this clever suit of the well-liked brows mixture. The attached cap relieves the stricty tailored look and gives the suit distinction. WELL LIKED SPORTS CLOTHES AND ALLURING SHAWL WELL LIKED SPORTS CLOTHES AND ALLURING SHAWL For those who fear women are growing more masculine with their active sports and attractive sports clothes, the vogue of the shawl is a comfort. A very handsome specimen is shown in the center of the illustration, gay with flowers and decorated with a long, silky fringe. On the left is a nobby sleeveless sport suit developed in grey and black flannel. The stripe is shown running vertically on the skirt the jacket—a more elaborate design. Another prollerton W. Spadro
