Obituary The death of Mrs. Nellie Rimpau on Feb. 14 brought a feeling of sadness and bereavement not only to her relatives but also to thousands of people in Sou. Calif. who had known and loved her for many years. Deceased was a native of California, born at Chowchilla, Mariposa-co., Jan. 4, 1859, being at the time of her death over 65 years of age. In 1866 her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Smythe, moved to this part of the state, where they owned a very large tract of land east of Anaheim, where the town of Olive has since been built. Six years later, in 1874, the family built a home in Anaheim, at the corner of Cypress and Claudina-sts. There Nellie Smythe was married on Nov. 4, 1885, to Fred C. Rimpau, who survives her. At that time the Catholic church of Anaheim, of which deceased was a devout and sincere member, was located on Cypress-st., between Los Angeles and Lemon-sts. After they were married, Mr. and Mrs. Rimpau lived at the corner of Lemon and Cypress-sts., until 1888, when they purchased the property on the corner of North Los Angeles and Adele-sts, where they made their home until four years ago, when they moved their house to property owned by Mrs. Rimpau's mother on Claudina-st., now the home of Mrs. Rimpau's sisters, Misses Zollz and Beatrice Smythe. In 1923, Mr. and Mrs. Rimpau erected a beautiful home at 904 West Broadway, where Mrs. Rimpau passed away on Thursday, Feb. 11, 1924, at 2 o'clock a.m. Having lived in Anaheim all the years of her mature life, Mrs. Rimpau had a large circle of intimate friends who esteemed her NEW TODAY CYPRESS 130 acres of oil land for lease; well located; close to Gaddie Well No. 1.
