KEYSTONE STATE SAVES ITS PRETZEL
HARRISBURG, Feb. 8.—One of Pennsylvania's big industries, whose products were to be found on grary bar, has not been affected by prohibition and that is the pretzel business. Pennsylvania is the home of the pretzel, and that article of food means as much to her citizens for between-the-meal periods as a hot "dog," a package of popcorn or a stock of celery does to those from other sections of the counties.
Almost every city in the state boasts from one to a dozen large pretzel factories, but 98 per cent of their products are sold within Pennsylvania. In the days when barrooms were, much more plentiful than they are now and when they disposed other kinds of drinks, pretzels were a staple article of the free lunch.
After the passage of the Volstead law and the gradual disappearance of many large saloons it was freely predicted that pretzels would soon be writhing in their death throes. Instead, the pretzel factories increased their output. Soda fountains, even of the most exclusive kind, began serving them with every order, and the people who had never seen the interior of a barroom but who had learned to like pretzels from childhood, demanded them.

X-Ray Succeeds Tar Method of Diseased Scalp
ATHENS, Feb. 8.—Favus sufferers breathed a sigh of relief on learning the disease can now be treated by X-ray.
Hitherto, favus—a widely prevalent scalp disease caused by undernourishment and filth—was treated by coasting the scalp with tar. This was allowed to remain until it dried and hardened. It was then pulled off, taking a liberal quantity of hair with it. The process was excruciatingly painful.
The X-ray treatment was discovered by Near East Relief physicians.
It has been successfully applied in a large number of cases.

CHOOSE LAWYER
TO DRAW UP WILL
COLUMBUS, Feb. 8. — The greatest difficulty is not getting money, but disposing of it. declared Arthur Young, Cleveland banker, addressing a local audience. He asserted that "the average man believes he is the one exception to the inevitabl law of death."
"Ownership of property ceases at death," he continued. "The exception to the inevitable law of the state; but the state makes a concession in granting the right to make a will which, once drawn, is inviolable."
Young advised that a person, preparatory to drawing up a will, consult a good lawyer and select a competent executive. A trust company, he said, is the safest executive.
BRITISH TO HUNT
ISLAND TREASURE
LONDON, Feb. 8. — The steam yacht St. George is soon to sail for the Pacific on a romantic voyage, under the auspices of the Scientific Expeditionary Research Ass'n.
An attempt will be made to locate a buried treasure of some $50,000,000 said to have been buried on Coros Island. The treasure is reputed to have been placed on board an English sloop during the war in Spanish America a century ago between Chile and Peru.
The backers of the voyage believe they have historical data which will lead to the discovery of the buried treasure.

“THEY ARE GOING TO SPUD IN”
the well on WESTEDGE TRACT this week, so the drilling superintendent tells us. Just ensure the returns from one of these lots in case they bring in production. A 3000-barrel well would give each lot owner an approximate 14 barrels of oil per day and crude oil is close to the dollar mark now and going up.
“Consider the Location”
just a short distance from the west city limits, high ground and pleasant surroundings. You will have to go miles from town to buy a building lot at an equally low figure. One of the WESTEDGE lots represents the very utmost in value, judged by all real estate standards, and in the event of no production oiled and graded streets, pressure water system and electricity will be installed. The only investment with wonderful speculative possibilities with no possible chance to lose, in a WESTEDGE TRACT lot at $695, easy terms.
