SORORITY GIRLS IN LUNCHEON FAREWELL
MRS. LUNA WELLMAN QUARION, popular and prominent matron of Los Angeles and Anaheim was complimented with a smartly appointed one o'clock luncheon yesterday by Mrs Paul D. Tedrick at her attractive home, 611 No. Clementine-ar.
The affair serves as a farewell courtyard for Mrs. Quarton, who leaves soon to join her husband, Ensign Dale Quarton at Annapolis, Maryland.
Mrs. Tedrick carried out her color scheme in lavender and gold and haskets of roses and violets were also used.
Covers at the luncheon table were placed for the Messdames J. Leslie Abbott, Irvine German, Lawrence Sutherland, James Sutherland, Ernest Spring, Helly wood; Joe Elliott, the honoree, Lana Wellman Quarton and garcious hosters. Mrs. Tedrick
Guests included the young matrons who, as girls, were churns at Anaheim high school and who later were serenity sisters in H. S. C. The affair was also a delightful reunion.
Mah Jongg and conversation formed the parttime for the afternoon hours.
New Boy at Kings
Mr. and Mrs. W. C. King, formerly of Anaheim, now of Jerome, Idaho, are happily announcing the birth of a son last Tuesday. This is the second boy and the second grandchild in both parental homes of Mr. and Mrs. King. Mr. King will be well remembered as mail carrier from the local post office. They returned to Idaho.
Double Birthday Party
Plans for a double birthday celebration were necessarily changed when Master Junior Durfee, one of the honorees and son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Eugene Durfee, became considerably indisposed a few days ago. Mrs. R. M. Colbertson, his grandmother and junior chose the same date for their birthdays, and always celebrate together so yesterday the members of the two families went to the Cullertison home on the Durfee ranch and greatly enjoyed themselves for the day.
Three shining tapers and a canny man made by his grandma, tagged Junior's cake, and after considerable puffing he extinguished the lights. He was presented with a tricycle for the decoration. Mrs. Cullertison also was honored with a cake and several pretty gifts.
Katella P. T. A. Night
Katella Parent-Teacher association will vary the usual plan this month when the meeting will be held tomorrow night, instead of afternoon. The clinic for children for pre-school age, however, will be conducted at the usual hour, between 2 and 3 o'clock. All mothers are cordially invited to bring the little ones to be weighed and measured during this hour.
The evening meeting is in compliance to the fathers of school children and will open at 7:30. Miss Pringle, of Garden Grove, will give an address, and several special musical numbers have been arranged by the program committee the Messdames Benson, Blair, Clausen and Miss Kate Clauses.
Everyone is heartily welcome.

BETROTHAL TO PARTY FEATURE HAWAIIAN MOUSE
TIE engagement of Miss Pannier and Mr. William was cleverly announced Saturday when Miss Eutha and sister Miss Alice, entertained a Hawaiian party at "Rosew pretty country home of the mer family.

Mr. and Mrs. W. C. King, formerly of Anaheim, now of Jerome, Idaho, are happily announcing the birth of a son last Tuesday. They returned to Idaho about six months ago after a short residence near Anaheim.
Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Kling, parents of Mr. King, have sold their place on Diamond street to Hans Anderson and will soon join the son in Idaho where Mr. King, Sr., has large land holdings.
W. C. T. U. Jubilee
Anaheim W. C. T. U. will meet tomorrow afternoon with Mrs. T. H. Walker, 208 West Broadway. Representatives will be appointed to attend the "Golden Jubilee" anniversary of the national W. C. T. U., which occurs in Los Angeles Feb. 12 and 13, in Trinity M. E. church, South.
A national officer will be present; Mrs. Ella Boole, treasurer for the world W. C. T. U., vice president of the national organization and state president of New York, is making a tour of the west and will attend the two days' sessions.
The "Allegiance" banquet will be served Tuesday evening, when several noted speakers will be present and special music will be provided.
W. H. M. S. Meeting
Mrs. R. H. Van Meter will be honored tomorrow to the members of the Missionary Society of the Christian church at her home 1202 Pearl st. The Women's class will have a meeting at 1:30, and all members of both sections, are requested to be present.
Drill Team Practice
Lois Rebekah Drill team is requested to meet this evening for practice beginning at 7:30. All members are asked to be in place promptly.

Organize in Corona
Mrs. H. H. Knox will go to Corona tomorrow evening to organize a World Wide Guild in the Corona Baptist church. This will be a junior Guild and will be composed of girls between the ages of 12 and 16 years. As district W. W. G. secretary of Santa Ana Valley Baptist association, Mrs. Knox has this pleasant duty to perform in many of the larger towns, and started a promising organization in Long Beach Emmanuel Baptist church last week. This also was a junior society.
Wicketts to Lecture
The talk tomorrow evening by Dr. and Mrs. W. W. Wickett on their foreign travels, will be given under the muspiees of Ladies Aid at the Presbyterian church. Stanners in costume will represent scenes described by the travelers Mrs. Walter Ross will contribute glog.
Entertain Dignitaries
Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Donnelly were honored yesterday by the presence at dinner of Rev. Father J. J. Prendewille, of San Bernardino, and Rev. Father William Reagan, of Boyle Heights. Both these dignitaries took part in high mass at the dedicatory service of the St. Vidiana cathedral yesterday, when the apostolic delegation from Rome was present. Other notables of Catholic faith present were six bishops and priests all over the southland.
Wed in Parsonage
William English and Mrs. Inz E. Hazelett of Riverside, were married Saturday, Rev. J. A. Gelssinger officiating. They were accompanied by Florence Werth and Walter Fuller, friends of the contracting parties. The marriage occurred in the White Temple parsonage.

IE engagement of Miss Ruth Pannier and Mr. William Hall cleverly announced Saturday morning when Miss Euth and her sister Miss Alice, entertained with Hawaiian party at "Rosewood," city country home of the Panther family.

Mrs. C.J. Lamblin gave a party at her ranch in Cypress Saturday night in honor of family birthdays, as there are six birthdays in the month of January.谷饲 and dancing were the program, and at 12 o'clock everyone enjoyed hot dogs, cake and coffee. There were 35 guests.

—Richfield was aroused Thursday night by a fiery cross, which was to be seen blazing in a new subdivision for Mexicans, which was recently opened by a firm of subsidiaries from Orange.

SANTA FE LEASE, Feb. 4 (Special).—Fred Jones of Long Beach was a visitor on this lease Thursday, Mrs. Raymond Jones and daughter Beverley of Long Beach were visitors on this lease Thursday also.
Many people from Olinda attended the 6 o'clock supper, given by the P.T.A. at the Olinda grammar school Thursday night.
The Olinda girls' basketball team played the Placeda team Wednesday afternoon at the Placeda school. The score was 15 to 15. Neither side was more than four points ahead at any time.
A jolly bunch from Olinda attended the Scots meeting and big time at Glendale Saturday night. They were: George Collen, Sr., George Cullen, Jr., Eddie Baner, Tommy Heirman, H. Schryer, Lou Edmonds, Mr. Marshall, Mr. Saunders and Guy Barman. They all reported a very good time.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Williams visited their grandson James Moore of Long Beach Friday night. Little James is quite ill with lung trouble.
Fred Jones of Long Beach was a visitor at the house of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jones of this long Saturday.

SCHICK HEARING EXCITES SOON

The cross was about 16 feet high and blazed fiercely for about three hours, and was visible as far north as Yorba Linda. It is reported that six or eight large cars were seen parked at the crossroads near the school a short time before the blaze. A good deal of complaint has been aroused in the district of the activities of purported bootleggers, and the opening of the Mexican subdivision has been a matter of much criticism locally. It is believed that that one mf emfw mfwy fw that the activities of the Ku Klux Klan are now centered on Richfield, owing to the lack of police protection, there being no officers of the law available for this district any nearer than Fullerton. When the flames had died away, the cross was found to be composed of gaspipe padded with rope and saturated with crude oil. The entire community turned out to view the fiery apparition, and it was the consensus of opinion that it represented the klansmens' token.

The smallpox situation has cleared. No new cases have reported for several weeks, although those under quarantine are long since been released, and children are again attending school. The disease was in a tremendely light form.
The Richfield kindergartens well attended, and Monday morning milk was served for the first time to the little folks. Mothers who can afford it are paying for their own children, while children whose parents cannot pay, being served free of charge, expenses being met by the kindness of the P.-T. A. and other local organizations.

REID WILL ATTEND LOS ANGELES C. C.
Secretary George W. Reid of the C. of C expects to attend on Feb. 4 the meeting of the Los Angeles C. of C., when President Julius H. Barnes of the U.S.C. of C is scheduled to speak.Charles P. Bayer, manager of the organization service department of the chamber, has reserved a bunch of tickets for distribution to secretaries of C. of C.'s.
At this week's meeting of the western division U.S.C. of C in San Francisco, Arthur Bent of Los Angeles was re-elected a director from the division. Secretary Reid and President Harry D. Riley attended Anaheim. Reid spoke enthusiastically of the gathering and its program.
The 1925 meeting will be in Los Angeles.
INDIAN IN JAIL
Ana Miller, 55, full-blooded Indian, who gave her occupation as saleswoman, was in the county jail today to serve a sentence of 50 days. The woman was sentenced from Fullerton on a charge of vagrancy. With her came Geo Mitchell, 21, also sentenced to 50 days on a vagrancy charge.

Seventeen cars of citrus fruits were shipped this week from No. Orange-co, including parts of the Anaheim district, Placentia, Fullerton and La Habra, it was announced today at the office of the No. Orange-co, Citrus Exchange in Fullerton. Six were lemons and the remainder navels.

WEST COAST LEASE, Feb 4—Mr. and Mrs. P. Neely motored to Long Beach, Wednesday evening, where Mr. Neely attended the Masonie lodge, to hear William Gibbs McAdoo speak.
Mr. and Mrs. Chris McCoy and family accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vierra and family and Miss Ursula Keen of Olinda, attended the theater in Brea, Tuesday evening.
Miss Anna Loah Quinn and Marjorie Simons were Brea visitors Wednesday.
Miss Vera and Beulah Studebaker were hostesses at a surprise party given in honor of the birthday anniversary of their mother, Mrs. Studebaker. Friends assembled at the home of Mrs. Collins of Olinda, and at a given time made their way to the home of the guest of honor. Games and music were enjoyed during the evening. Mrs. Studebaker received many pretty gifts. Delicious refreshments were served.

Marked increase in the valencia acreage is shown in a report for 1923 just issued by A. A. Brock county horticultural commissioner. Citrus fruit acreage as a whole was 50,824.24 bearing against 44,301.92 in 1922, and 4664 non-bearing against 3596 in the previous year.
The bearing acreage of valencias in 1923 amounted to 37,528 compared with 32,369.66; the non-bearing to 3005 against 1,975.
