He is leader of the National Union of Railwaymen, and has the task of holding it; check the men of his organization who favor joining the strike called by the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen on the eye of coming into power of the Labor ministry, in which Thomas was scheduled to have a portfolio. He has ordered his men to remain on the job.

Ludwig Lewisohn, author of a novel "Don Juan," and the autobiographical chronical "Upstream," asked his wife to share their home with a young woman whom he called his "inspiration." Mrs. Lewisohn charges in a suit of sepia-filed against the author. Lewisohn is herself a novelist under the pseudonym of "Boswol Crocker."

Mrs. Arthur Gels, of Providence, R. L., who is said to have left her husband, Arthur Gels, noted organist. Mrs. Gels, 28 and attractive, prefers love to musical art and is said to have found a responsive love with Frank J. Lavoto, a 22 year old hotel clerk. She says that although her husband earns almost ten thousand dollars a year and can give her every luxury, she prefers the simple love.

Lucius Moore of St. Louis earns only $19.25 a week, but a baby is priceless. Cletus, eight-month old son of Moore and his wife awakened a carpet tack and it lodged in his lung. St. Louis physicians preed that only one man in the United States, in their opinion, could save the infant, Dr. Chaveller Jackson of Philadelphia. A church organization provided the money and the baby was rushed a thousand miles across the country to the waiting doctor. It will live, it is believed.
FAMOUS ANGEL OF BROADWAY OPENS FIRST TOURIST CHURCH IN THE U.S.
Miss Rheba Crawford, former Salvation Army lassie, famous as "the Angel of Broadway," has established the first Tourist Church in the United States in St. Petersburg, Fla. She has set up a "big top" tent in the center of the shopping and business district and holds services in it for the winter visitors to "The Sunshine City." Her first service drew more persons than the tent could hold. Many were turned away.
Four years ago, the girl, then a Salvation Army lassie in St. Pete, held nightly meetings on a street corner there. Leaving that city Miss Crawford went to Atlanta to work on a newspaper. Then she received the call to New York and won considerable fame saving souls on the "great white way."
Members of St. Petersburg Carpenters' union devoted their Saturday half holiday to building the pulpit platform and seats for Miss Crawford's "temple."
Miss Crawford went to the Florida resort originally to rest. Then came the demand from her friends and organizations to open the tourist church.
