BRIDE ELECT IS HONORED WITH SILVER GIFTS MISS ANNA IMELDA DALY, one of the popular brides-elect of the early spring whose betrothal to Mr. Lee Drake, of Puente, was announced rather recently, was presented last evening with a set of tea spoons and a sugar shell of Community ware, in the Grosvenor pattern by the Y. L. L., of which she is an enorgetic member. Mrs. Glen Stillwell presided at last night's meeting of the society during which plans were made for dance to be given at the Elks club Feb. 29. The girls are anticipating a jolly time at this affair as it is a genuine year opportunity and they are going to make it very interesting. A committee composed of Miss Lillian Degryse, Elizabeth and Rose Donnelly served refreshments of heart shaped cookies, chocolate and candy. A special meeting has been called for Jan. 30 when matters of unusual importance will be considered. Diversified Program The recital presented by the Anaheim Conservatory of Music Friday evening, Jan. 25, in St. Michael's Guild hall will be interspersed by contributions from Richard Sterling. "The Walker," by Glovanette, being his encon number. Mr. Sterling, with Mrs. Fricon Sterling, who is vocal instructor in the conservatory, have come to Anaheim with flattering recommendations and Mr. Sterling will form classes in dramatic art. He be- Encampment Instals Anaheim Encampment No. 105 will meet regularly tomorrow evening at 7:30 sharp. After a short business session open installation of officers will be held in charge of Henry A. Mang, district deputy patriarch, assisted by his staff of officers. A program will be included in the evening entertainment followed by refreshments, a dance and a social time. Mitchell's orchestra will furnish the music. Odd Fellows and their families from Brea, Fullerton and other districts will be special guests. Lois Thimble Club The regular meeting of the Lois Thimble club will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Odd Fellows hall. Plans for an active early spring season will be laid. The hostess committee includes the Mesdames Alna Baxter, Maude Prieley, Lena Sunnums and Fannie Webb. Fancywork will occupy fingers while the meeting is in session, after which refreshment will be served. All visiting Rebekahs and members of the club are cordially invited. Durkee, who is instructor on stringed instruments of various kinds, will play the ukulele, banjo, mandolin and Spanish guitar. Local Clubwomen's Photo The Los Angeles Illustrated News of this morning contained the picture of the local Delphian and Ebell delegation which a week ago attended the performance of "Tiger, Tiger" in the Fine Arts Theatre. The Plain Dealer social page mentioned the ladies as having been photographed after the performance, through request of Frane Goldwater, who was greatly appreciative of Anaheim's interest. Twenty-two members of the two clubs and a few of their friends formed the party attending the play. Fidelis Meets Today The ladies of the Fidelis class held an all-day session with Mrs. C. Reihert. As there was no urgent sewing for the ladies to do each took her own fancy work and enjoyed the day in a real social way. Put luck dinner was a noontime feature. W. lodge for the territory including Santa Ana, Orange, Anaheim and Fullerton. Mrs. Demple is his assistant. They have been visiting local members of Anaheim lodge No. 10, of which Mrs. Boyd is secretary. Y. O. Society Entertains Young People's society of the Catholic church will have a very delightful entertainment this evening at St. Boniface Hall on No. Palm-st. A program of music and reading has been made out by the committee and a good time is assured. Dancing will be enjoyed after the evening hours. Refreshments will be served. BUENA PARK BUENA PARK, Jan. 24—(Spl.)—The D. B. Brown house in the Mennes Track is completed also the side walks and curb. The many friends of Miss Doris Williams and Mr. Robert Spohn were surprised today to learn that they had been married for a week. The young people accompanied by the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Williams, motored to Compton, Jan. 15, where the ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. A. Jennings of the M. E. Church. The marriage was kept secret until today, (Jan. 22nd) when they announced the glad news to their friends. Mrs. Spohn is well known and has a host of friends here. She graduated from the Buena Park grammar school and attended Fullerton High school. The groom has been here several years. Their many friends wish them all the joy and happiness possible. Mr. and Mrs. Spohn will leave the last of the week for their new home in Ventura county. The Ladies Aid Society of the Congregational Church will give a social at the Community Hall, Friday, Jan. 25. Come and have a good time. The Woman's Club will have a rummage sale at one of the small school buildings Jan. 23, 24 and 25. L. E. Berkey and family attended the wedding of Mrs. Berkey's niece, Miss Frances Coffman at Whittier, Monday evening. Miss Coffman has visited at the Berkey home and has many friends in Buena Park. W. H. Terry, president of Anaheim Ebell club, in calling to mind the financial responsibility of every California clubwonan for her part in the seventeenth biennial convention of the general federation of Women's clubs, plans for which are going to be uppermost in the thoughts of the local club during the next four months. To afford every Ebell clubwoman an opportunity to personally know every other one, Mrs. Terry has planned a "get acquainted with each other" day for the regular February meeting. As this is the day when the members will bring their half dollars for the biennial fund, each one is requested to relate in however manner she may choose, the manner she earns or saved—at least secured, this amount. This is going to be interesting and amusing as well, and the informality incident to the meeting will be most happy. Mrs. Terry wishes to impress upon the club that this is not a Los Angeles affair, nor any other local gathering; it is the whole beautiful state of California acting as hostess to the national organization of women from June $10 to 17, and a convention in which every one will want to share. Girls Sell Candy Anaheim high school girls who are helping support an orphan will have a candy sale tomorrow evening at the performance of "Robin Hood." Miss Callye Sparks announced a meeting of the swimming section at her home Wednesday evening. All interested in the meeting and all who care to join are requested to notify Miss Sparks. Miss Irene Jacques told of the plan to organize a city tennis tournament. Warren Ashleigh Y. M. C. A. secretary is instigator of the proposition. It is planned to give silver loving cups to the winners of the girl's and men's first singles. French Composers The Music section of Anaheim Ebell, with Mrs. W. B. Holland hostess, will meet Monday afternoon. Miss Mabel Woodworth, of Garden Grove, will have a part in the program. THOUSANDS AT LENINE FUNERAL (By William J. Reswick) (I. N. S. Staff Correspondent) MOSCOW, Jan. 24.—Thousands of persons passed today before the red dais holding the body of Nicolai Lenine and gazed for the last time upon his countenance. The world's greatest revolutionary leader—the man "who shook the world"—rested in state in Trade Union Palace. The snow-covered streets were filled all day with fur-clad humanity. For the most part, those seeking entrance were workers and peasants. So great was the crowd outside that the infantry and cavalry on guard were hard-pressed. The military guard of honor was changed every ten minutes. There was a constant stream of Soviet supporters passing before the bier. Despite the suffering undergone before his death, Lenine's face was calm. It was actually life-like. Upon the dais upon which the body rested stood a huge candelabra which shed a soft light upon the coffin. It was surrounded by palms. A number of children, with whom Lenine somped before his illness compelled him to take to his bed, made a pilgrimage from Gorky, the little village where the great leader spent the last year of his life. With wondering eyes they trudged past the dais, looking for the last time upon the man whom they had come to regard as their playmate. Altho the government which Lenine headed made a fight MINISTER PASSES AWAY AT HOSPITAL The death of Rev. Ell M. Eriksen, 47, occurred last night in Anaheim after an illness of two weeks, altho he had been in ill health for three years. His body was taken to Los Angeles, accompanied by Rev. L. L. Myers and H. L. Taylor, secretary and constant companion of Mr. Eriksen, where services will be held. The body will then be sent east for burial. His wife and baby have been in Philadelphia during his stay in California the last year. His death it is said, was the result of an almost fatal injury received three years ago in Chicago during an evangelistic meeting. CHILD BURIED Emma Jane McMaurns, two and one half year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John T. McMaurns, died Tuesday at the family residence on East Chapman ave., Fullerton. The father is a teacher at the Fullerton J. C. Funeral services were held this afternoon at the grave in Loma Vista, Rev. F. M. Dowling of Placentia officiating. Angus McAulay was funeral director. DEATH OF LENINE "TERRIBLE BLOW" TIFLIS, Soviet of Georgia, Jan. 24.—Leon Trotzky, commissar for war in the Russian cabinet and colleague of Lenine, declared today that the death of Lenine is a "terrible blow" but will not stop the execution of the communist policies inaugurated / by the late leader. Trotzky was compelled to come to southern Russia by ill health. It was here he received news of Lenine's death.
